As you know AMD has problems, so i think they would prefer to use 2 trademarks (GPU/CPU), if something bad would happen....

That makes no sense. RTG is the branch off, not ATI. ATI is the previous company, bought and absorbed. RTG has been used to differentiate between AMD CPU and GPU.

Lets just take it easy all of us, and wait for the next 8 days, then we will know what the card really can do. Until then all is just speculations and FUD.

Sad as it sounds, Rumour and speculative threads need to go! There is rarely any other single source of thread topic that can flamebait so many. usually the first 2 pages go along agreeably, thereafter.... well you know were they all go.

These sort of threads just seem to reveal everyone's true colors... I think it's alright to speculate and drool about something. But this whole green versus red camp kid's stuff is simply annoying and I wish there was some easy way to filter that noise.

This thread is getting rancid. All credit to @Fluffmeister for not being aggressive. The OP and others are claiming troll when anyone posts anything slightly outside their own hype boundaries.
The only trolling going on here is the repetitive sniping back and forth. And while fluff is getting accused of trolling on a 480 thread, the OP and his loyal apologists post those 970 memes or worse, GTX 480 jokes.
The hypocrisy shown here is fucking outstanding.

Let's keep the thread running because it shows a lot of true colour. But for those calling troll, look at your own posts and ask yourself if you're actually being balanced or doing everything possible to keep your own bias on top.
Come on dude, you know just as well as others do he does it on every thread that has anything to do with AMD. The OP created it to talk about the RX 480 and rumors/leaks (Even if many have been basically confirmed defunct) which might all be untrue or one little snipe might be real. Either way in this thread the deleted argument was between him and another. Many of the other threads are the same way, him and another (Including me). I grow tired of it just as much as everyone does because it ruins the fun on talking about tech when you have to navigate through a bunch of junk. There are plenty of people that are problems with this, hes just one of the bigger ones...

the only thing I want to know at this time is the noise level... as long as the cooler doesn't sound like a typhoon I'll be happy.
Its a blower, your asking to much LOL.

Come on dude, you know just as well as others do he does it on every thread that has anything to do with AMD.

I didn't defend him. Simply applauded his non aggressive stance. Is he trolling? No. He's playing. He plays a form of entrapment and those that take the bait tend to get really pissed.
And that's the point. This thread isn't about rumour so much as glorifying a yet to be released card as if it's the saviour.
The RX480 looks to be placed as an excellent value mid range card. It's not like the HD5870, it's not like the the HD4870.
I can't recall a time when people celebrated the mid range so much. If Polaris is this good I don't understand how RTG couldn't release something bigger and faster on the same architecture.

I'm actually disappointed in RTG. I'm in DX12 limbo. I want to upgrade my X79 on W7 to a new base on W10 but the 1080 isn't a justified purchase to me. And RTG offer nothing until Vega. So if this small Polaris chip is so awesome, why couldn't AMD make it 30% larger and create a phenomenon?

No, this thread is all about saying every eventuality about the performance so it can at the end be justified.

And I assume you have fluff on your ignore list? That's the sensible thing to do if he grinfs your gears. Cue family guy pic...

I think that's the same thing at the end of the day because it still ends in thread derailing...But w/e, ill agree to disagree in this case since I view it differently.

Well its all they are releasing first, so yea some people are hyped for that card because its cheap. For all we know it may end up being a steaming pile of... But anyway, its the first time in awhile that a cheap card comes out first (And is an actual new card) so I guess people are over hyping it for themselves.

Well maybe they could, problem is we can only speculate what they are thinking. In my opinion, they are just doing it this way to gain market share with the mid range crowd and lower to get some market share without competition. I am in the same boat because I don't feel like spending money on anything currently (Though I am waiting for a voltage unlocked classified 1080...I want 2200mhz)

Well, if people over hype it with rumor is their own fault if it does not live up to the hype. That's why I don't believe stuff until NDA lifts or someone shows significant proof more than a quick "Here is where it sits" chart.

Yea along with like 20 other people, but its a problem when you have an entire thread where people are fighting addressing a blank entity.

There have been so many faked/shopped "leaks" regarding the 480 that it's tough to trust any of it at this point that isn't from official sources. I don't think I've ever seen a card with so much faked on a card, that looked legit and turned out to be proven fake upon further review. So we'll just have to wait and see. I take anything leaked before the NDA is up on the 480 with a grain of salt now. Hopefully a lot of what has been rumored like super-high oc headroom is confirmed then.

Didn't that guy form OCUK post that he is rather pleased with the factory cooler (for a change considering AMDs previous ones).

Yep. Don't install it. It is a typical Made in China malware. These online shows reviewing RX480 are getting paid by the Ludashi to spread around.

That's nasty and sad. It's actually playing on the RX 480 fever but also probably partly responsible for it. Could it be a new form of 'tech' phishing? Help push the hype around something and encourage people to buy into it by using malicious software?

Not as bad as you may think. If you spent enough time on some Chinese tech sites you will understand. The main reason is that the Chinese netizens don't have free access to the rest of the world internet, thanks to something called The Great Firewall. Direct result is they cannot use softwares and websites as freely as we can. For example, they have no access to Google at all. The same goes for benchmark softwares and etc. Another reason is a lot of western companies never bothered to do a good Chinese translation due to the rampant software pirate rate. End result is their local flavored sofeware/malware boomed. Chinese software developers usually has little morale/legal code to worry about. So most of their softwares are kinda malware.

That is way off topic. Back to topic.

That temperature of RX480 under load is pretty impressive. Consider the heatsink design is so primitive.

They probably designed the heatsink like that in order to fit the fan to that desired size. Also helps save on the bill of materials I'm sure. If it was anything close to the 390/390X or 970/980, it would've definitely been as long as those. I feel like they should've included GDDR5X into this setup. It could've helped save even more power but unfortunately it would've cost us a wee bit more than just $199 and $229.

I'm not completely sure if GD5X would bring any performance increase to this card. And to have more expensive memory just for the sake of a bit lower power consumption (which is very low as it is) would make the card miss the point of its (hopefully) great price/performance.

I think (wish) that the 480X is going to be a >1.5Ghz Polaris 10 card with GDDR5X

Won't happen and G5X is overrated even 356bit bus is faster....

I hope 490 > 512bit bus G5X ! =P
