Are there any 4k monitors that run above 60hz?

Shopping for a new monitor, and the few I've looked at being dell, hp, and an LG that was really nice( and will probably be it), all were only rated for 60hz. So before I commit, I thought I'd ask here if 4k@120hz is something that only exists in my head and in futureland? or real and now?

mostly future land i think.. even if they exist the gpu power needed to take of advantage of them dosnt..

Unfortunately as far as I know most of the announced monitors like that are "Coming Soon" as the tech to run them has just barely arrived to the public (new nvidia cards). I know Asus has a rog variant coming soon but don't know exact date.

If that's what you want, I would wait a bit and see what comes out.

I know that there are 4K monitors with adaptive sync support, but I'm not sure if they go above 60Hz yet. Had a quick look at PC retailers and couldn't find any.

The spec has been ratified however, so they're certainly coming.

No current setup can push the frames though, in the demanding games at max settings. If the 1080ti is to 1080 what the 980ti was to the 980 you might with SLI, but probably not.

I'm no stranger to compromise but my bottom line is I want to upgrade to 4k but I don't want to go back to 60hz. I'm perfectly fine with gaming at lower res until gpu hardware catches up, meanwhile I could still enjoy other content at 4k. If they are around the corner, I can wait a bit.

Why not try 1440p 144hz or ultra wide 3440x 1440p with 100hz? I game at 1440p 144hz and its to me looks close in most games on my 4K monitor with proper settings (my opinion). If you want beyond that try the ultra wides with 100hz as they will give you a nice quality with refresh.

I think I've seen one 4K 120Hz monitor. But it was SUPER expensive. Could be just a news about it here on TPU.

Ok what's with this 4K BS! No Graphics card can handle Graphics that high of Res. yet and a to be clear a screen @46"inches you couldn't tell the difference with 720p/1080p so 4K is simply pointless in my eyes and i have 20/20 vision

If you can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p at 46" you're either a half mile away or blind as a bat. 4k starts to make a big difference in clarity for PC gaming at 32" and up.

OK man i know what i'm talking about. The other thing i hate is most movies/videos aren't in full screen. Only like half screen with two black bars top/bottom it kills me and don't think i don't know about the pixels being shown up close as that's just stupid. who's going to sit the close? NOT ME!

There's so much fail here that I'm not sure where to start.

1 4K is not "BS". Modern graphics cards can and do handle 4K. Have you not seen the GTX 1080 and GTX 98O Ti SLI reviews? Just check them out on TPU.

2 As bigmack70 if you can't tell the difference between 720/1080/4K then you've got pretty bad eyesight, not 20/20 vision like you claim. Or you have no idea what you're looking at.

Ok MOST people aren't going to but I certainly do to a certain degree but do i care? No. Look i have a 32'inch TV with Roku TV and i have a ton of movies converted to 720p and it looks fine to me and YES most of the movies don't fill the screen (when i mean FILL I mean by Full-Screen) but that's ok.

See the thing is those black bars have nothing to do with resolution unless you are fiddling with scaling. Black bars appear when there is an aspect ratio mismatch. 4k is referring to the horizontal resolution.

4k resolution is 3840x2160, that is a 16:9 aspect ratio. If your monitor is also 16:9, and doesn't happen to be 4:3 or 16:10, or an ultrawide, and the scaling for you choice of player is not fixed. Yes, it would scale down properly to your screen.

That would be exactly what I'm looking for except 10-12 times cheaper, unless I win the lottery or something.

Good luck with finding cheaper options. Even today, if you look at monitors, 80% of them are 60Hz garbage. The rest are 100, 120 and 144Hz models. But once you go high refresh rate, there is no way going back. Not even cursor movement on desktop will ever be the same again after that...
