@Recon-UK Was wondering whether someone else would feel the same way about competitive online games. I got into online gaming through BF3 relatively early on and was pretty skilled through it all, but through Colonel grind (I think I made it to about somewhere between colonel with 12-15 stars nope lol Colonel 8 though I did have my own style, CQB-style MK11Mod0 DMR before it was cool in BF4, and scoped DMR on the SCAR-H, respectable stats) found myself getting very bitter after having a disappointing game. So I took a little break (still on that break lol, have yet to get back to BF3), thinking it was just me getting tired of the game. A while later I got sucked into CSGO compet, and while I was really into it for some time, it was increasingly frustrating to accept the fact that sometimes one gets put up with terrible teams full of terrible people. I always try to stay positive and acknowledge skill + effort on whichever team I see it. I never made it past GN3, mostly sitting at Gn2 and getting a nice streak taking me up to GN3, only to bump into a bunch of defeatist dicks, deranking me back to n2. And so, predictably, I stopped. You can only put up for so long with the feeling of not being able to anything while someone on the enemy team cheats their way to victory, happening over and over. I know they have Prime now, but after the way Steam handled a simple phone number change of mine, no thanks.
But it's all been a worthwhile experience as I now know exactly what's going on with me and gaming. I like the adrenaline and rewarding feeling of a well-played game, but all this competitive gameplay was only bringing out the worst in me. These days I stick to singleplayer (Borderlands 2), coop (Payday 2), and extra-tactical shooters (Project Reality and soon-to-be Squad, both of which are games where you cannot blame a teammate for missing a long-range 500m+ sniper shot because you wouldn't have made it either ). Helps me to be a more polite, reserved and happy individual.
