SAFE MODE? ok OK, don't start screaming at me for this post

I say that because I can't find the proper forum to post in. Here is my issue. I have an old pc with security cameras hooked to it via Ethernet and a 16 channel dvd card made by Sharx Security. I use Windows 10 now on it (sorry I did the upgrade) and everything was fine for 3-4 months. It all worked flawlessly running 9 cameras. All of a sudden after the last Win 10 upgrade I no longer have video. I reloaded the Sharx drivers along with the Sharx Codecs as usual but this time I get the following message:
"Can't detect your hardware in the system. Please insert it then restart the software."
Now I don't think this is a Windows message, it is a Security Center message. The software name is SecurityCenter.exe.
Sharx no longer makes or supports dvd cards. They knew nothing about Win 10 or 8 for that matter. They stopped at 7. I called them. They said to TRY booting into Safe Mode and see if that helps.
So I need to figure out how to get into SAFE mode. Arrgh.
I thought it was F5 or F6. Nope.
Mobo is a Asus P8Z68.

Also, since the card stopped working after the latest round of updates, try going into the update history and see what you can uninstall, if any. If it starts working, then you've got something to go on for a more permanent fix. This might take time and patience.

Just to add to quibit's excellent advice, you may want to start with a system restore to a time you knew it was all working. Add the updates 1 by 1 and you should be able to figure out the source of the problem.

Didn't mean to sound too lazy to google for info, of course I did that prior to coming on here for ideas. And I couldn't find what I needed. Everything I found said try F4 or F5 upon Boot.
And that didn't work, obviously.
But you know what? Your google link took me to the right info. Amazing.
So I found what I was looking for got into Safe Mode thanks to you and your help.
All is working again after a rollback of Windows. I have my security cameras functioning once again.
Good Lord, I truly wish Microsoft Windows 10 would stop this forced update crap.
The system is installing the darn update as I type and I can't stop it.

Hey, glad to help - good thing you forgot to mention you'd already googled for it. :toast:

Sometimes it's all about using the right keywords which can be mighty tricky at times.

Could be Antivirus disabling software or maybe windows has taken a special dislike to unsigned drivers
Safe modes either holding shift or f8 at boot or constant resets until it trys to autofix

I thought hitting Shift and clicking Restart gave the options to go into safemode after the rig reboots, unless that's only a Win8.1 thing.

Yeah. it gives you a bunch of options, you choose troubleshooting from there. It'll reboot again, then you can choose safe-mode.
