Has Compaq (HP) removed driver support for XP Machines?

I have a old Compaq Presario V4000 in amazing condition for its age (upgraded the internals of it for my mother to use) anyway I went looking yesterday and today for drivers/software for this machine and I cant for the life of me find any drivers/software on Compaq (HP) support download pages. I put in the model number, the S/N, everything and it just doesnt come up with anything. Has HP taken down there servers for these old machines that run XP? or am I looking in the wrong place?

it looks like they took down everything for that machine ( it is 11 years old) . a good chunk of it should be recognized by windows. then you'll need to look for the things devicemanager cant identify.

It appears the notebook itself is removed from the HP webpage altogether, i might be wrong though.
Your best bet would be to use something like driver identifier portable (it will ask for registration, just input some random name and throwaway email)
Most of the drivers are interchangeble anyway.

Yep it has been "retired" by the looks of it. Might have to spring for an OEM disk of maybe even Win10. I'm currently typing on a laptop almost as old(Acer Aspire 7520 Turion X2/8400M G) It has drivers for everything and runs quite well for it's age.

Edit: Or slozomby may have solved the problem

i'd hate to think of win10 on a Pentium M with 2gb of ram.

Well this only 1.9 Dual core with 4GB(upgraded from 2) but yeah you may be right it is just single core...

Thanks for all the responses, im surprised they removed it from there servers as I recall it had full support for Windows Vista as well as XP.

Thankfully I found a folder on this machine (I installed Windows XP on it yrs ago) and I had left all the drivers on there. few!

Any one im particular you know that works great/ ive tried some in the past and they were terrible lol

Agreed lol I think W7 might actually run on this but XP seems to run very well on it. How did you know its running a Pentium M and 2GB RAM? lol It was running a 1.5GHz Celeron and 512MB RAm til I upgraded it. 2GHz P4M and 2x1GB RAM.

Thats exactly right, I would only run XP or a light weight Linux on this beast.

HP is horrible about support. They almost never update the drivers for their machines. I almost always fine newer copies somewhere else

For drivers just search by part number of the manufacture. Or the Hardware ID located under properties in the device manager

I've installed Xp on my MB with ease. I had to use Driver Booster 3 to find drivers for my MB but they work fine. I installed sound and video without the software though
