Hello to all,
First, see what I have-
1.Gigabyte h61m-s2pr3 motherboard(Worse motherboard ever I think)
2.I5-2500k
3.Asus r9 270x 2gb
4.Iball 550w peak PSU(Not so good I think)

So, I want to change Processor, Mobo, and PSU(will stuck to the Graphic cards for few more months).
My budget is very tight. So decided to buy-

1.I5-6600K(Must buy for me)
2.Mobo(Z170) within around 10-15k.
3.A PSU to support above rig.

Please, I went through almost all gaming mobo's review, and now confused wich one to buy for ultimate performance.
Many Mobo's are too expensive because of extra feature buy I don't want them.

What I don't Need is-

1.SLI-Crossfire support
2.LAN gaming feature/functions
3.Or any other things which support online gaming(As I don't compete with online or don't play).

What I must want is-

1.At least 6-10 usb ports at back panel
2.Sound enhancer feature(Which gives good soud output).
3.USB 3.1 will do fine.
4.Build Quality strong(As I want to use it for following 8 years.)

So, Please can anyone help me, I am really really confused which one to buy.
Suggest me both PSU and Mobo.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K85X2AW/?tag=pcpapi-20

also don't forget that switching to a Z170 board will mean switching to ddr4 ram. so budget accordingly

it helps if you specify what country/denomination you are in if you want to keep it within a pricepoint
I know, H170 is also an option but for k series processor, I have to buy z170 over future overclocking purpose.Coz I dont' want to purchase components again n again.

How about Asrock
Z170 Extreme3
or
MSI z170a Gaming m3

Budget around 18k for both mobo and psu.
I am in India.

For PSU you could get EVGA G2 650W
Too Expensive here in india.

I've heard nothing but good things about the asrock z170 boards. however the asrock extreme 3 is 21k on amazon.in. so I ignored it. if 20k for the motherboard is an option i'd still recommend the asus z170-a

and yes 550w is sufficient to power 1 gpu and a 6600k. unless you have tons of hard drives.

Hey Amazon is wrong about price tag, Asrock Z170 Extreme 3 and 4 is availeble at 11699 or 12799 respectively on http://www.primeabgb.com/online-pri...151-intel-z170-atx-asrock-motherboard-online/ and http://www.primeabgb.com/online-price-reviews-india/asrock-z170-extreme4-usb-3-1-motherboard/
So, Should I go for that...Its cheap huh? And I have 2 internal and 1 external hdd.

There is no such thing as gaming motherboard. It's all naming gimmicks. If you are serious about gaming it's better to invest your money in a better GPU instead of a 6600K.

If I were you I would go for this Seasonic PSU, this GTX 1060 for the same price as i5-6600K. Get any P67 / Z68 / Z77 montherboard that you can find and overclock your i5-2500k. If you have some money left throw in a a SSD, for example this one and you will feel night and day difference in every day tasks also. I see you have stock cooler so you will have to change that also if you are serious about overclocking

Is this true what u r saying?..I only need another z77 mobo then overclock 2500k, will it compete 6600k?
Or Is gtx 1060 is any good for 1080p gaming for the next 5-6 years with that overclocked 2500k??
Okay I will buy cpu cooler and Seasonic PSU as u said.
Will all that do any good??
And where r u from?? just asking.

it depends.
an overclocked 6600k will outperform an overclocked 2500k.

a 1060 is a good card for now. 6 years from now is a huge amount time in gpu lifespan. i'd be willing to bet my 1080 is considered slow 6 yrs from now.

i'll agree that the gpu is the biggest performance gain for now. if you're budget can afford it.

Nothing is for 6+ years, pc tech is outdated fast. At least if you want to play.

Stay with the 2500k, get another mobo overclock it and buy better gpu etc. as already advised. The 2500k with overclocks is still good. You need a good psu, 16gb ram and a good Mainboard and gpu that's it.

Let's put it this way. Your 270x is same as a GTX 950 in performance at 1080p. Getting a GTX 1060 3GB will increase your performance 2 fold.

A 6600k compared to 2500k at the same clock might be about 20% faster but you will see these gains only in CPU bound games and if you have very high end GPU, where as better GPU will give you better performance in all games. I dont know all the websites in India so check you might find cheaper / better 1060. For a cooler this AIO seems very good for the price

As you all say, I should go for different mobo n overclock 2500k, buy psu n 16 gb ram and most importantly a new better GPU like 1060 or 1070.
A second Question tickled in my mind about ddr3-ddr4 issue. Is buying ddr3 in this generation of gaming will do some good??
I mean think like- I have 2550k overclocked with 16 gb RAM good PSU and gtx 1070(as I don't want 1060,bcoz I can spend more on gpu than any other components), then can i play future games like gta6(whenever it comes) etc.??

Probably yes but it's like looking into the future nobody knows when this game is released and what it needs.

Ddr3 is fast enough, buy 2400mhz ddr3s if you want max performance.

I think the best bet is to get a 6600 or 6600k and a z170 mobo, gpu can be upgraded at any time but buying a z77mobo will cost his future proof plans, although i agree until you buy a new gpu it will serve better to have the 1060+z77 but if you plan on buying a GPU in <1year then i think get the new i5 and mobo.

Benchmark Scores N.A
I think the best bet is to get a 6600 or 6600k and a z170 mobo, gpu can be upgraded at any time but buying a z77mobo will cost his future proof plans, although i agree until you buy a new gpu it will serve better to have the 1060+z77 but if you plan on buying a GPU in <1year then i think get the new i5 and mobo.
Yes, i changed my mind, firstly after selling my current pc components(except graphic card), I would go for z170+6600k+550w+Cooler and then for after 6-12 moths will go for 1070 only(coz its better to spend periodically, if budget is a problem now).

I think this is a bad idea but it's your money. Buying this and keeping your GPU will yield 0% noticeable performance gains in gaming

Spend money on a good Sandy Bridge Motherboard then. Leave the rest the same.

Also forgot to add if you do go down this route you also need DDR4. I seriously cannot think of 1 good reason to do this.

I agree with you simply because of how hard it will be to find a quality used P67/Z68/Z77 motherboard. I agree with @krusha03 that you won't see performance improvements with this plan at first, but you would be building your new system from the bottom up, instead of the top down.

He can still do it if he can't find a Mainboard though I believe the mainstream Mainboards should be easier to get compared to x79 - those are very rare now.
