its not a power/temp thing the cpu/chipset its self will only take so much and then poof you will restart one day and it will be dead

Since the temperature reporting seems to be weird, I set the PC to automatically shut-off when the CPU reaches 65 °C, just to be on the safe side of the temps as well.

As far as my PC catching fire, one of my buddies had that issue a while back, his PC literally caught on fire.

If I remember correctly the KT400/KT880 were the entry level and PT were the performance chips etc.

I love this build, reminds me of one of my first PC's I built with an Athlon xp 1900+ that I later upgraded to a 2500+ and overclocked to 3200+ speeds and the high end P4's with 3.4ghz struggled to beat them :rockout:

Its old and outdated and for normal use it would be a no go for me. I got a system very simular to this before i got my X58 system.

But for getting some time to pass messing with old computers is fun. Like overclock the crap out of them, to se if you can get a newer windows to run om them and some thing like that.

I remember installing windows 7 on a machine much like this that also ran XP before that. It worked well. It took a long time to load to windows 7, but when it where dome it ran pretty desent and where usable.

Not sure one could oc the crap out of one while no atx 4pin connector on that board, power to actualy getting close in finding chip potential is limited and thats sugar coating it even properly cooled.

Oh man... let's get some superPi benchies on that thing.

Also if I remember correctly you could overvolt that 9600 with a pencil mod.

That was basically my original "half life 2" and counterstrike source rig.

I blew up the PSU one day trying to install a 3 drive raid array from old used drives i got at a shop LOL.

I'd love to try that but as I've said, I have no control over voltage and I can't bump the CPU higher. I have free control over the FB and I have already overclocked from 1800 MHz to 2275 MHz.
