Setup:
I have a basic home network which runs using a D-Link AC1200 ADSL2+ Wireless Modem Router. Because of the design of the house and available telephone sockets, I have to run both of my desktops using a USB network adapter for each computer (cannot permanently use an ethernet cable for either).
Issue:
When using newer, Wireless AC compliant adapters, the internet connection keeps dropping off and is slower. When using an old Wireless N adapter, the connection is stable and faster than the newer adapters.
Have Tried:
- have tried two different modem routers Netgear AC1600 and D-link AC1200 (both purchased within the last 3 years)
- have tried 3 different network adapters (1 about five years old, works best, and other two less than 2 years old)
I have NOT been shaped. Network is secure, WPA2 with LONG key - nobody is accessing my network that I'm aware of. Connection is fine with an ethernet cable, but I cannot use it permanently.
If the old N adapter works fine in the same spot, why aren't the AC ones also working properly?
Any ideas what the problem is or what I am maybe overlooking?
