I have just realized that Youtube works purely on HTML5 now and Twitch apparently made the switch as well. That means I can probably uninstall this crap. 30 seconds later - HOLY SHIT it works! Yesss!!!

I use Firefox which by default blocks all flash unless specified by the user. Now if only Java could follow suit...

I'm using Chrome which still has the Abode Flash functionality built in. Some sites defer to Flash only if HTML5 stops working, but I don't really remember the last time HTML5 was cracking up, it's pretty stable now.

I'm just wondering, what would happen if I switched to a browser that didn't have Flash, would that mean most ads would stop running?

As a No Script + AdBlock user i can't tell you much about ads

I hope I don't have any site that requires Flash in my bookmarks. Youtube and Twitch were the primary reasons I kept having it installed.

I uninstalled Flash Player a few months ago, since it constantly and instantly kept crashing on Liveleak and on some other video sites. The problem remained even after the reinstall and upgrade, so I removed it completely. Strangely, it worked fine on Youtube.

afaik some older videos on YouTube are still in Flash format, but perhaps they've all been converted now, dunno.

Also, many sites still use Flash, so you'll be unable to view those videos now. This is why I allow Firefox to block Flash by default, with a popup to allow it on a per instance basis.

No script is 1 layer of protection,I have to enable flash through that , also Waterfox has a layer on its own for older versions, i use spywareblaster as a layer of protection too.

It's so good i put it on all client machines (noscript/spywareblaster).

(WF is great for power users)

Only reason why I'm still using it is because I'm maintaining a Portable Adobe Flash Player download project on my webpage. And one video streaming service is using it. Other than that, there is no need for it anymore.

hbogo uses flash iirc, its AWFUL. constant freezing, crashing, stuttering, etc....ive never seen flash perform SO bad, and thats saying a LOT , bad for flash is like the worst of the worst. suchs too, since HBOGO is a sweet movie/video watching site.

Unless i'm missing something, HTML5 only allows for a 720p maximum. That's the only reason i still have Flash installed. Wish i didn't have to, i cannot believe i needed apps to run an app (stop autorun, run flash here always, etc etc), but..

YouTube is HTML5 and it has 4K. Flash has zero benefits here.
