GALAX is marketing the KATANA as the world's first single-slot GTX 1070 single-slot graphics card with a maximum thickness at just 16 mm, which is an engineering feat in itself. The card leverages a "legendary turbo radiator" (it's funny how the renders show a white warning sign next to the cooling fan with a "CAUTION Hot Surface" warning, though that's probably needed there to avoid any lawsuits from burns resulting from touching the card while gaming.)

The card features a RazorX cooling technique, with copper fins and a vapor chamber that "maintain cooling performance even in thermally challenging scenario(s)". The GALAX GTX 1070 KATANA uses a single 8-pin connector, and video output is taken care of by 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 1x HDMI 2.0b, and a single DL-DVI-D connector. Clocks on the card are reported at 1518 MHz base, and 1708 MHz boost clocks. I wince at the noise and heat this baby must put out, and wonder how much it's going to be thermally throttled, but I guess those are necessary drawbacks for what is otherwise an interesting single-slot design.

It could fit with some Gillete add on the box cover... like in Judas Priest album cover - British Steel :D

Cool.

I wish it was triple DP, but I understand the reasoning to make it a mix of ports.

Ditching DVI on such card would make total sense. Why is it still there? DP to DVI adapter would make more sense. You still have connectivity without obstructed airflow...

@Raevenlord the hot surface sticker is there because the shroud seems to be metal and thus used as a heatsink as well.

But I very much like your tiny edits to these 'dry' release articles :)

Why not go the mini-dp route with 3xmini-dp for maximum airflow?

Oh the dustbunnies that fill up quick that narrow distance between the fins of that vapor chamber....:fear:

Agreed. Those exhaust grills are tiny, and could use a little more area.

Indeed. It just reminded me of those Starbucks cups, and found it chuckle-worthy to find on a graphics card =) Thank you, glad you feel that way!

Exceptionally cool, but what I dont get to this day is, why dont we have dust covers for blower style fans?
Or would that ruin some airflow effect or something?

Seems to me it would help a lot just putting a removable dust cover over that fan.

Made in belfast??

Oh wait....thats a Saxon song.

It seems it works like an open air cooler, exhausting mostly inside the case. Very interesting I think, but what is it for? Most cases seem to have space for 2 slots, even the ultra SFF.

If i had this card id get a picture of Eric Cantona and stick it on the side of my pc case and rename my PC Eric Katana because it kicks ass

Zlatan is the new Eric Cantona.

HAIL ZLATAN!!

looks like the old 8800 gt with that thin casing!product_shot_low_1.png

Right now, in North America, the only single slot GPU is RX 460.

The mentality of [bigger the better] is too strong in America.

America per capita gets fatter each year, might as well have something thinner!

Could be good for SLI since there will be quite a gap between the cards then, good for airflow between them which will keep them cooler.

Keep them LOUDER you mean. Cuz them puny laptop size fans are going to need to be working over time to keep both of them more stone cold then a Steve Austin

Maybe.. LOL. I didn't talk about noise but yeah they won't be "silent", that's for sure...

That's a nice looking card. I am curious what the acoustics are going to be like.

Now make a 1080
