Hello folk.

I wanted to ask you kind folk if you could help me with a slight problem which I'm having. I'm new to video editing and I only do basic stuff for my videos since the videos I am working on are gameplay videos I upload to Youtube.

Now what my problem is that my recordings are split into few files and I want to group them all into a single video, which I do simply by adding new clips to the end of the previous ones, however when I do that there appears to be some sort of sound cut where it's kinda obvious that the clips are added one after another and I'd rather fix this.

Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it ?

My video editing program is Vegas Pro 13.

PC Specifications are:

CPU: i5 2500K (Overclocked to 4.5 GHz)

GPU: GTX 980 Ti

SSD: Samsung 850 EVO (where Vegas Pro is)

HDD: Samsung Spinpoint 1 TB (where my videos are)

RAM: 8 GB

Why are the game files split into a few files then? Just to help get a better understanding of what is going on.

I've no idea, the Shadowplay records around 11 minutes of gameplay and then creates a new file (which also lasts 11 minutes), the worst thing is I have no idea how to change this, so I'm stuck with this problem because of it.

are you using Shadowplay record in manual mode or the shadow record? If Shadow record then switch to manual mode. Shadow is limited to the I think 10 minutes (not really sure). I would turn off Shadow and just Alt+Z then select record from there if it was me.

Edit as for Vegas Pro 13 and the sound skip I'm not really sure but you would think there would be a buffer of some sort for that as well, but I don't know for sure.

Uhmmm... You could try the latest GFE.

I already have it.

I'm recording simply by pressing Alt+F9 (default) so I guess manual because I have no idea what Shadow record is.

I forgot to say I downloaded and recorded the problem with OBS, here is the video:

That seems to be an issue with the shadow play...a little off topic here but ReLive don't do this. So I would assume its the same issue as I just started using Vegas 13 as well. If you need to get the videos out more often, I guess for now just use a transition piece for now.

On Windows 7, Shadowplay uses the MFT MP4 muxer, this has a filesize limit of 4GB. Your files aren't getting cut into 10 minute chunks, they're getting cut into 4GB (or 3.8GB) chunks due to a software limitation.

You have a few options:

1. Upgrade Windows to 8/8.1/10
2. Use an alternative capture program (I can highly recommend OBS, used it for the NPU YouTube Channel captures as well as our reviews)
3. slap your video segments together with a decent video editor and render them out - there will be a noticable cut between segments regardless(I use Sony Movie Studio Platinum, but it's ugly for new users)

okay so Shadowplay will indeed do over 11 minutes and I just did 26 minutes of Dirt Rally with shadowplay (manually) and no problem with length at all and it is probably a file size limit.. so make sure where you save the file to and where the Temp files are have enough room for the files my 26 minute game capture was 2.62GB and that was on low quality which looks damn good.... SO make a new profile on your PC and test from that account (to rule out some obscure setting that may have happened)and if same issue then I bet it is a file size issue and to get one file game recording you will need to lower quality of recording. Good luck.

Edit the compression on shadowplay is pretty good and lowering the quality might just do the trick for you.

Ohhhh, so that is what makes it record that much, yes every recording is 3.8-4.0 GB large I was wondering if this might be some sort of bug on my part, seeing as I record at 1440p (50 Mbps) that is what makes it like this. Thanks for clarifying this everyone, now I only need to fix this problem with the videos which I have left and then I will see about going with OBS.

To be honest 50Mbps is a little excessive for 1440p. That's probably the kind of bitrate I'd use for 4K capture. A long while back I captured at 1440p but downscaled to 1080p (since YouTube will downscale 1440p to 1080p anyway). If you're doing anything with the video besides keeping it on your Hard Drive, like uploading it, It'll get reencoded on upload to 1080@60p at around 8-12Mbps.

This is fairly useful: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1722171?hl=en-GB

use Shadowplay and just go into Shadow plays options and test low Quality and Medium quality and look at the vids it creates and you will be surprised at the quality of low and like I said the compression it better than a lot of them for sure....test out a few 30 second runs for your self. Low quality will get you around 40 minutes of footage per 4-5GB of space.

Well, I solved my problem by using a simple tool called MP4Joiner
http://www.mp4joiner.org/en/

There doesn't at all appear to be a sound gap, thanks again to everyone who helped.

Quick question to avoid starting another thread about, should I upload my recorded files immidieataly on Youtube if they do not require editing , or will it be better if I would render in Vegas Pro ?

Thanks.

No need to re-render the video file if you have nothing to add or take away.

Depends. If the filesize is huge and you can encode it to a smaller size with similar image quality. I like using VirtuaDub and Handbrake since.. well they're free :D.
