NVIDIA, which unveiled its faster "Volta" GPU architecture at its 2017 Graphics Technology Conference (GTC), beginning with the HPC product Tesla V100, is closer to launching the consumer graphics variant, the TITAN Volta. A curious-looking graphics card image with "TITAN" markings surfaced on Reddit. One could discount the pic for being that of a well-made cooler mod, until you take a peak at the PCB. It appears to lack SLI fingers where you'd expect them to be, and instead has NVLink fingers in positions found on the PCIe add-in card variant of the Tesla P100 HPC accelerator.

You might think "alright, it's not a fancy TITAN X Pascal cooler mod, but it could be a P100 with a cooler mod," until you notice the power connectors - it has two power inputs on top of the card (where they're typically found on NVIDIA's consumer graphics cards), and not the rear portion of the card (where the P100 has it, and where they're typically found on Tesla and Quadro series products). Whoever pulled this off has done an excellent job either way - of scoring a potential TITAN Volta sample, or modding whatever card to look very plausible of being a TITAN Volta.

It this can be Volta ?, it is very possible.!View SLI connectors 2 x DX12 ,4weySLI? for upcoming 8K resolution ? and a large ratio between the screws on the rear side. Volta will have a large processor ,and it is time to replace TITAN P . Two pieces pleas ? nVidia ill do free trails true gaming . :)

Well, I guess AMD might as well give up now on the GPU side if that's Volta unless Nvidia are planning on asking $3k for the titan and $2k for the GTX2080 at launch (all US prices) because AMD are going to be so far behind.

Care to send us some benchmarks of AMD's upcoming cards and Volta's so we can also draw those conclusions?

Also can Nvidia please let go of this "Titan" moniker soon because its just getting silly.
Why not call it Tartarus because the jail holding the titans must be stronger then the titans.
Or call it Olympus where the gods who defeated the Titans reside.
Or something totally different all together.
This Titan, Titan X, Titan Black, Titan Z, Titan Pascal, its just getting...rather stupid and confusing imo, if its all called Titan it does not add anything, and with the letters its not easy to comprehend either.

Heh, you guys are funny. You have no clue what AMD VEGA can do but since its delay and competition has new card's pic leaked AMD should give up GPU side ???

Fake !!!

Titan cards are normally black in colour.

Non Titan cards are err silver and black just like in the pic.

Maybe it's just a prototype?

Wait..

You actually believe vega can challenge volta?

Look at the leaks we have seen, they have been suggesting that VEGA= GTX1080+ maybe a little bit, then add in HBM 2, it will be an expensive card to make and if Volta is more of the same that we've seen from nvidia, then the gtx 2080 will be about 20-30% faster than the gtx 1080ti and then add in the Volta Titan and 2080ti which are going to be about that much faster than the GTX2080, so now can you see why I'm saying this?

I'm by no means a nvidia fanboy (in fact if VEGA turns out to be decent price to performance, I'll replace my RX 480 with it), I really hope that AMD can really pull something out of the hat with VEGA than can go toe to toe with Volta, not just Pascal but AMD has over promised time and time again which makes me far too wary of the hype train and leaks for VEGA.

Well, this:

http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/ra...rs-might-still-be-out-a-couple-of-months.html

suggests consumer Vega might not arrive for another couple of months. If this is a Volta Titan (though more likely a GV100 in sheeps clothing) then Nvidia may have something on hand for Vega, if it beats the 1080ti or Titan Xpzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

The colours of the Tesla part are black and gold though (at least one pic i saw was).

It could be Volta, it could also be not.

Who cares?

I think consumer Volta will be here within the next few months. Reason being, Nvidia need something to slaughter Vega with. And one foolproof way is releasing the next iteration of cards, 6 to 12 months before they would have liked. i.e. the 2080 and 2070 will be here virtually at the same time as Vega I believe, or within a month of each other (in terms of widespread availability).

Wait..

You actually believe that Vega and it's derivatives are noncompeting piles of grap do you now?

Why it should? It's the same generation as Pascal, Nvidia is almost one generation ahead. And I'm having a very strong feeling that we won't be seeing Volta GeForces this year, I could be wrong, but that's just my guess. :toast:

Imagine Nvidia will launch Volta 1 week after Vega and Volta will be at least 30% faster. Who gonna help AMD?

I think they will compete with Pascal. Possibly with gp102 even (probably during dx12/Vulcan) and gp100 for the rest. I do not think amd is staging this well to release withing months of Volta. amd solidly missed the boat on vega. The cards have come out 6 months too late now, oh wait they would have to come out for me to say now.

If we trust AdoreTV analysis:

1) AMD is aiming at professional market, so gaming side of things will suffer
2) Vega FE seems to be in the middle between 1080 and 1080Ti
3) Volta is Pascal refined, a bit faster, but not revolutionary

/shrug
I'll still buy Vega, if doesn't ask significantly more for perf than nVidia does.
Faster than 1080 is still plenty fast.

APU side of things looks really promising, with current insane gaming notebook pricing.

I understand the hype amongs the enthusiast crowd (4k 144hz etc), but this is actual bad news for the normal consumer. We need competition. This means AMD will be quickly behind again. And stop being bias please, we all know no way a Vega would outperform or come close to a Titan Volta. Just look at the technology on them and draw your conclusions, or stop being a fanboy.

We really need competition because is not acceptable to pay 500€ here in europe for a GPU that can barely handle 1440p @144hz maxed out (GTX1080). Won´t even talk about 4k. Is too much money and is not benefical for PC gaming.

The amount of FUD in this thread is off the charts. The GPU in this pic could be literally anything. It could be consumer Volta, it could be Fermi, it could be Vega, it could be mushed potato inside a wooden box with a shiny backplate, and yet it managed to bring up crazy conspiracy theories how RX Vega is DOA.

FFS, It's just one more week until Computex and more details about RX Vega will be known.

This is a demonstration unit running on a desktop board, as you can see there is a main graphics card (the little card on the top) and the "Volta" GPU on the bottom. Why would they need the small card on the top? Because of the simple fact that it is a Tesla card, tesla graphics cards do not have video outputs, so they use the card above for such purposes.

TL;DR: Its most likely a Tesla sample unit for people to see it irl, actually working, cannot play games, compute only.

Vega would have to arrive to be DOA. We are still missing a big chunk of that.

It's a GP100 based card as they have this chip sitting around, unused in consumer product, perfect to piss on AMDs Vega parade.

The screw hole positions are the same as on the P100 PCIe version and most ref PCBs have solder pads/holes for power connector on the top and the back.
Plus it's way too early for Volta, especially a Titan, they'll release the small chips first like they did in the past.

There are no SLI fingers on this card pictured. There ARE, however, NVLINK interfaces on the outer edge of that board.

Far behind something that is 10-11 months away?
