Buggy sure, but it seems on the whole it works well enough, especially if you update the BIOSeses. But then there's the whole debate how "well enough" should be defined, in this context, but that's a black hole.

Yes, those BIOSes have helped, but there's clearly some serious flaws in the design of the current stepping of Ryzen that can't be solved this way.

And yeah, what's "good enough" could well be argued until the cows come home.

Minor bug fixes. Nothing special and nothing to feel like you are being left out of. More than likely, if you are on the latest BIOS, you already have a software fix for anything you might actually do.

The new B2 stepping reportedly addresses a lot of hardware-level errata which cannot be fixed merely by AGESA updates

Z170 ASRock OC Formula motherboard is so bugged, cant install feature updates in windows after a fresh install, boot lock after bios.... sad.. oh and cant oc my memory past 2133

loved mine.. never saw that issue, thankfully. Doesnt sound prevalent as people many swear by it. I think it broke a memory record when it first came out?? I dont know. Maybe a bad bios, or weak imc, or maybe the board broke...it happens to the best of em too.

Well if you ask a Ryzen owner which chip they would rather have, this new "better improved" one or their first batch chip.....

I'm a Ryzen owner and I don't really care for the new batch since details are still pretty vague, only the fact that there is a B2 stepping is certain. I'm not goping to pine over something for all intents doesn't exist yet and simply is on the way since that is a very miserable way to live. Until more concrete details are released don't speak for other people especially for owners of something when you don't own the item in question yourself.

Well so far I used the x370 killer/ac board and the MSI gaming pro carbon with my 480gb MyDigitalSSD BPX drive, which is a pretty decent drive. On certain reboots it seems to not detect the drive. I just have to power it down and turn it on and its fine. It functions fine other than that.

I also wouldnt expect much in the terms of clock changes with the revision since it is still on the same process and all.

i'm considering to add NVMe to my crosshair vi build, perhaps a samsung 960 pro or evo, guess I'll have to dig and research for this combo

well, to put things into perspective, I'm having cold boot issues with my crosshair vi + vengeance LPX / viper 4 (though latest beta BIOS with AGESA 1.0.0.6 claimed to fix it, but it didn't) while on a biostar X370GTN (priced a third of the crosshair, mind you) I had zero cold boot issues with both the vengeance & viper.

I typically hold off 1-2 years before moving to a new platform.

Already in my 4th year and counting. The way Intel is moving, it will probably be 2 or 3 more years for sure. AMD is not an option right now, not until the 3rd Ryzen generation.

Actually given the AMD previous record most of the times new steppings were always bringin in higher overclock speeds. Like Athlon Thoroughbred A and B , Like the later steppings of the Phenom II 955 C3 giving more overclock headroom around 300MHz against the C2 on the very same voltage.

That's the one i hoped to see, sooner or later, will definitely postpone the 1800X purchase to August 10 then, if this revision will come out by then, worst case scenario - September 10th.

These are minor bugs. When you are designing something as complex as a CPU, things like this are put on the back burner until you have a working product. Then you iron out the minor issues. Are you mad or just don't know anything about Research and Development?

If the B2 stepping is mostly focused on uncore-level errata, it could mean improved PCI-Express device support, and perhaps even memory support improvements beyond even what AGESA 1.0.0.6 brings to the table. Canard PC reports that it hasn't come across any CPU core-specific errata being addressed with the B2 stepping. The glaring FMA3-related bug has been patched through BIOS updates, and most newer batches of socket AM4 motherboards come with the patch pre-installed.

How did they get their hands on damn thing, is what makes me wonder. And tested. And where are figures/numbers/comparisons/etc... to prove it, but i digress.

On a brighter note - if these rev. B2 R7s come out say in August, i'll wait & in meantime buy something stead, something like this for my AM4/X370-powered rig: https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-kit-x360. I know, i "break" my promise to buy 1800X in July, but heck - why rev. ZP-B1 when B2 is (probably) around the corner? Cheers guys, thanx for info, regardless.
