I just read the front page news about Vega. PC World saying it beats the titan xp. this is such good news. I almost cant believe it. this will stomp all over nvidia's market share. I may even have to make the switch for an all amd system... its been a long time...

the scores for the titan xp are about right. I usually get 60fps in everything @4k. in gaming so I wonder what the scores there will be like. dare I say 100fps @4k...

The problem is AMD is cherry picking. They're not showing all the benchmarks where Vega falls behind. Being realistic, I think that will be most of them. That said, Vega Frontier Edition is aimed at workstation workloads so it should be tested against Quadro (optimized drivers), not GeForce. As such, these benchmarks are fundamentally flawed.

I wonder why most didn't realise until now that Vega Frontier is just a Titan-like GPU from AMD that can in addition to what Titan could do, it can both be used for dev work and testing that work on the fly by switching its driver state from workstation to gaming. Imho, the most important I see is that it clocks up to 1600MHz on air. So, the arch is high-clock friendly, which if Raja is true about RX being faster in games than Frontier, we might see some impressive core clocks. So, competition again on the top tier of the GPU market, and who doesn't like that?

And why are people not annoyed at AMD for copying Nvidia? Double standards. They give you a thousand dollar single GPU, give it a 'pro' monicker and sell it high. Unlike the Pro Duo which was after all 2 Fiji chips, this is a single chip.
They have the compute card. It's called MI25, same bloody card. Same exact chip. But write different software for it and sell it high.

Not very far from reality what you wrote BUT Titan couldn't be used to both develop games and test them at once with just a click in driver suite. So, imho Vega Frontier is useful in some ways for some specific kind of work while Titan was just a marketing trick to sell expensive GPUs on a premium to faith brand customers.

well vega has just been tested with very early drivers. this was the full chip being tested not the gaming version which will be a slightly cut down version. the performance was dismal. we were told to expect the gaming version to compete with the 1080 or more likely the 1070.... ???????

Careful, the AMD Red Guards will show up shortly and tear you apart, with marks such as "It is not for gaming!" and "Unfair to compare to Quadro" and etc.
