Corsair CX650M - 12,8V on 12V Rail. Should i be conserned about this?

It doesn't move, even on load it stays 12.829V.

I was with a tech savy friend yesterday, and we were talking about our builds, and he was like "WOW That is too high voltage, you can fry some components in there".

That is why i posted it.
Also i read that max tollerance should be around 12.6V.

If you are reading that from software, no..not worried. We've told you before software readings generally are not accurate...get a DMM.

According to some results i have found & from what I believe to be accurate

+/-5% is acceptable
11.4'ish up to around 12.6'ish
Multimeter or bust btw

No i tested it with a PSU Tester after seeing those numbers on the AIDA 64 Extreme and the numbers are the same.

+\-5% is fine 12.8 does look high imo, but i wouldnt lose sleep, reach Out to corsair tech suppyand ask

good to know now, lol!

Confirm with a DMM.. psus testers are also dubious. If the dmm says the same (12.8) then its out of spec and needs to be rma'd.

Spec, is 5%. If we do the math, that is 12.6 and 11.4v people.

Never came across a clear cut spec , I personalty know it's 8-10% and 5% for 5V , 3.3V rail. Where did you take that 5% from ?

OP , do you have any problems ? I know most systems would not turn on unless voltages are within spec. I'd say you are fine.

No problems what so ever, no shutdowns, no freezes, no BSOD, nothing.

Temps are all good.
CPU 55C under load
GPU 65 to 70C under load.

10% is on the negative rails which are not relevant here. 5% is the spec on all major rails.

There could be an inrush spike that's out of spec with that high of a voltage when you start the system
, do as @OneMoar said get a hold of support.

While 12.8v isnt immediately harmful, i would contact support and see what they say. It is out of spec. Spec is there for a reason!!!!!

I see , but it also says at peak load the voltages can be regulated up to 10%.

So it's still fine most likely , like I said if there was something wrong you wouldn't have had to ask. Try and RMA if you can't get over it.

heh, it wasnt 8% like you personally knew

. Being serious, Peak load is also a blip. So for short durations it can run out of that 5% spec.

id still stick with 5% and see what corsair has to say about it.

It's still just a software readout , he said it's stationary suggesting it is not reliable at all. If he wants to bother with it , by all means.

He tested with a psu tester, which is better than software, but not as good as a dmm.

Ive also had situations where my dmm reading didnt budge from idle to load.

This is what I believe plus a Vrm will take that easy your not feeding 12v into the cpu.

This isnt about beliefs, but facts

. Systems will turn on and run when (slightly) out of spec as well. While 12.8v is likely not immediately harmful (i said that earlier), it is over spec. Spec is there for a reason. Running it out of spec puts undue stress on the power bits. Again, will it break tomorrow? No, but id still get it looked at...try with a dmm to confirm psu tester readings.

Now filip changes his story and says it shows a brief sag... cool.. doesnt matter. Id reach out to corsair and see about a rma.

The cx line wasnt exactly stellar either... serviceable, surely (better than hantol!!!) still bottom of the barrel though.
