Will Kraken X41 cool a 10 Core?

I'm using a Kraken X41 to cool my i7-6850K CPU and all is good so far, temps stay in the 60-70C range with a mild OC that is running at 4.0 GHz. (stock is 3.6 GHz.)

I just made a deal with a friend for his i9-7900X 10-Core CPU, an MSI Mainboard, and a 32GB kit of RAM.
I'm wondering if I can get away with using the Kraken cooler on this 10 Core? The i9 is a 140W part.

Should I go for a better cooling solution?

Any helpful suggestions are appreciated.

Simply put, I would try it and see what shakes. Theoretically it should keep it "cool", but that may depend on the environment too (does not show if you have central air in your specs). If it cant handle it, then buy another

At stock should be fine , with an OC not really.

3930k is a 140w CPU at stock. I have ran mine overclocked with a Corsair H80i. The i9-7900X is a 140w processor. Theoretically you should be able to get away with it at stock and possibly a very minor OC... Cant give you any more info then that.

I also had a question about the socket LGA 2066 hole mounting dimensions and went to the EK website to read up on it.

They say, "The mounting hole patterns of LGA 2011 and LGA 2011-3 Sockets are the same as for the new LGA 2066 so no mounting bracket upgrades are needed. Every EK Socket LGA 2011 and LGA 2011-3 CPU compatible water block is out-of-the-box compatible with all Socket LGA 2066 motherboards."

I did some searching on my parts shelves and found an AlphaCool Complete Watercooling Set. (360mm)

I would use something better for a 10-core CPU, but it should be OK if you don't overclock it.

I'm going to go ahead with the AlphaCool 360mm setup on the i9 part, and leave the Kraken on the i7-6850 where it's doing a good job already.

Thanks for the responses. Finding that AlphaCool kit on the parts rack sealed it for me. I should be able to OC it if I have to and be without any thermal issues.

Also, I found another 360mm kit this morning by XSPC that might have worked too.
But the AlphaCool looks like the better gear. :toast:
