Increased electric bill is taking something.
You were already browsing, power was already consumed. Also its the same argument is piracy isn't hurting sales. It's not enough to hurt the power bill since you were already browsing. Like it doesn't hurt the movie/game industry since they were already made. Argue all you want but I for one am laughing my ass off at all they sissy pirates bitching about one of their own doing the same thing to them as they do to other people. Enjoy them deserts pussies.

An intangible though, much like copyright.
Not intangible. Easily measured and reflected in the power bill.

Copyright violations operate on the assumption that the individual would have paid market value for it. Realistically, that's not the case. In a perfect world where piracy was impossible, most of these individuals would have simply done without. Alleged damages versus actual damages--the copyright holder still has their product.

Power bills? Those easily stand in court, especially when you go to the effort of metering the increase in power consumption due to this activity. Any website that does this better watch out for litigation as a result of it.

Piracy isn't theft because they don't take anything. Therefore them using you equipment isn't theft since they are not taking anything? Right guys?

So if your neighbor plugs his air con and fridge in to your outlet he\she isn't taking any thing ?.

Intangibles were taught to me to mean non-physical. That's how I am using the word.

He/she is taking an intangible, much like copyright. That was his point.

Flowing electrons are very tangible. When's the last time you used a body part to connect the hot to neutral or positive to negative?

Copyrights are indeed intangible. They're a concept and not a thing.

Even if you don't like electrocution, run current through an electric motor and the tangibility of electricity becomes immediately clear. For example: fans and/or hard drives in your computer. Electricity is a natural force. It doesn't fit the definition of intangible at all. That's like calling gravity intangible.

Not pirating anymore so no toy money from my PC.

Well, I for one do pirate. The rule of thumb is that most AAA games nowadays are shit. Therefore I wanna try them out a bit and if they're good I'll buy them. I know a lot of people who do this since demos are nowhere to be found.
Spot on! The ideas of game demos seems to be lost on the current gen of devs. Or maybe they're afraid that the demo will show just how much crap they're shoveling at us. Anyone confident about their offering has no problems making demos. I really miss the "ShareWare" age!

I agree to a certain degree...if you try a game this way and then you actually buy it then it's ok but most people (let's face it) don't do this. I think the best option would be to be able to play the full game for 1 or 2 hours and then to be prompted to pay if you want to play more

People still use Pbay? My ISP has had it blocked for ages now. I’m really not missing anything.

guess they do but i expect its awkard and hard to actually find the site what with the various Authority's playing Wacka mole with the Domain and site
Most ISP's in the UK allegedly block access
Not that i torrent much ( only distro's and drivers )

Not even a thing here and I don’t watch things on my PC anyway.
Point was, it's not just TPB, or "questionable" sites that are doing this stuff; good luck being sure that the sites you're on aren't as well.

I find it funny people still pirate these days.

Do you live in the USA? if so then thats why you find it funny, go to another country where people get screwed over and you will understand why people pirate.

Just use The great Suspender in google chrome, problem solved.

Nice two year thread necro sir.
