Throughout the sceptred isle of Britain the kings of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales plot their paths to dominance against each other, and the Viking horde. On 19th April there will be war, when A Total War Saga: THRONES OF BRITANNIA releases worldwide.

A Total War Saga: THRONES OF BRITANNIA will be available as a digital download or as a Limited Edition boxed product available in some territories. The Limited Edition comes in an embossed Steelbook inspired by ornately decorated Anglo Saxon helmets of the period, such as the famously reconstructed Sutton Hoo. The Limited Edition also includes a double-sided poster featuring a detailed campaign map and a set of collectible art cards celebrating five of the most prominent in-game faction leaders.

A Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia will be available from 19th April and is available to pre-order digitally from SEGA approved digital retailers with a 10% discount from today until 19th April. The Limited Edition will be available to pre-order from participating local retailers very soon. Additionally, Creative Assembly will donate 25% of their profit from every pre-sale of Thrones of Britannia from now until launch, to War Child UK.

I'm salivating at playing as Anglo Saxons repelling the Norse raiders under Alfred in the 800's!!

I'll be playing as Welsh (Mercia, hopefully playable!) to get rid of all these Germanic invaders. Britannia is for brits!

Mercia is a playable faction, yes.

Holy moly the Total Wars drop like skittles these days...

I really hope CA has looked at Ubisoft's rapid release schedule and how it backfired on them with Assassin's Creed...

They are running two different studios now. One for fantasy related like warhammer and HALO wars, and the other for historical. They operate as well on separate release schedules. No worries!

Additionally, the Saga series will focus on smaller slices of history/locations.

EDIT: actually 3 studios now, with Creative Sofia, which they bought from Crytek.

Don't get excited yet @rtwjunkie from what I understand this is using the Atilla engine and not the Warhammer engine. So no DX12 and no proper multi-threading.

Correct. They confirmed that at least it is Large Address aware, so performance should be better than Attila.

Attila's performance was a lot better than Rome 2, so I didn't find it to be too bad.

Any improvement will be good tho, just the same.

Atilla was LAA as well at least if I remember properly. It doesnt change the fact that performance with large armies are still abysmal. Even with a 1080Ti Atilla vs Warhammer max settings on each my avg frame rate in Atilla is my minimum in Warhammer lol.

Why they didn't use the updated multi threaded engine is beyond me. Atilla is still 90% of the time single thread limited new game same limitation not exactly impressed. Considering Warhammer Total War launched 2016 and thus had its multi threading and Direct X12 code path being worked on long before that. Now considering they are reusing previously made assets the development time on the Saga game likely started when Warhammer was released. Hell at this point their free to play total war game has better thread optimization its kind of a running gag at this point.

I can't wait! I'm such a Total War junkie.
