ASRock could enter the graphics card market, according to a report by Taiwan-based industry observer DigiTimes. The company is reportedly enamored by the GPU-accelerated crypto-currency mining boom, and could develop a graphics card lineup that's mostly, if not entirely, based on AMD Radeon graphics processors. AMD Radeon GPUs are generally regarded as being more efficient at mining popular crypto-currencies.

This could indicate that ASRock's graphics card designs could be frugal, and purpose-built for mining. Like all other add-in board (AIB) partners, the company could start off with some reference-design cards, and then launch custom-designed ones. The company has seen success in recent times as a formidable high-end PC motherboard brand across both Intel and AMD platforms; in addition to its low-cost motherboard core business. It also diversified into industrial PC components, server motherboards, and consumer networking products, such as Wi-Fi routers.

Probably because there are so many reference designs for mining cards to chose from?

There is one thing I wonder...

Why they do not design a true hybrid... PLX bridge and like slap four GPU's on it.

because when avago bought plx up....they quadrupled the price and forced bundles with lsi controllers.

Which asshole here is gonna preorder the entire pallet ?

they will have to focus as much as they can if they want to even find some vega gpu

When every AIB is already receiving what's probably their max contracted allotment of AMD GPU production, all while trying to secure the GDDR memory that's available, I wish them luck!

I think it will be good to see a bigger player coming on the scene, perhaps take over where a group like H.I.S. has faltered.

Asmedia has some dumb switches too.

I'd buy an ASRock graphics card just to have the brand on it. :p It would have to be a low end card as I've already got a GTX 1080.

Shame they didn't go NVIDIA as well.

Low end Vega card? :p

they might yet
Don't forget Asrock the premier Budget Builder with the Duel Series Motherboards

Just imagine that mining Card
Duel GPU one AMD and one Nvidia each mining the coin that suits the individual GPU

Oops that Reminds me MUST TAKE MY MEDS :)

No assrock gpu.

Well, they're not all that high end for gaming...

But I'm just talking about a budget card from ASRock and it would have to be on the NVIDIA side for me to be interested. I get they don't make one, just saying if they did.

well, is hard to understand why they didn't started before!
may some miners be with your and your cards asrock ...

IMO, not a bad time to start.
Can price the cards high with a short warranty... so long as msrp is below average selling price they will sell.
Good margins, good design test for future gaming focused card.

NVIDIA does this with their Tesla Grid cards. It seems insanely expensive. But hard to say why exactly; hardware/pcb design, enterprise tax or support, etc? It's pretty interesting though.

Except, they have become a mainstream builder now, with above average quality for most of their line.

Indeed, they're way better now and my next mobo might well be ASRock. I remember the early days from about a decade ago when they were the "poor man's ASUS" with lower build quality and reliability.

At the same time, I don't think they offer above average bang for your buck any longer. But as long as you get decent (or better) boards, it's not all bad.

On my Path of Up-grading my Pc system i have used Asrock and never had any problems with their boards
as said above Still got 3 in storage 2 i bought from new
Despite their Budget Status then They have served me well
As Regards to quality i found them Good
If i was to be in a position to up-grade NOW i would have no Problem going AsRock Again :
I would also Recomend them to any one that asked/enquired about them
Have fond memorys of my Asrock Boards :)

with exisiting card partners cant even fulfill thier required stock at present...

i wonder how can Asrock make graphic cards .... may be in thin air??

or may be they ll enter like after 2020.. when AMD can meet supply-demand.

They May Have Negotiated a Supply deal that for AMD is Better than an Existing Contract from Someone Else ( in Terms of Units Supplied
cost Per 10,000 Units and length of Contract)
Stranger things have happened >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ( take a look at Apple Dealings in this Industry for one or Broadcom for another)

Remember "ITS A CUT THROAT BUSINESS"

well, is not bad that they start doing that in this time, the fact that they make motherboard since quite ago, also the fact that asrock boards are becoming more interesting and better build, cuz few years ago asrock was just a budget builder, that was the origin of my previous comment,

As I said above, between HIS, Biostar, and some other bottom feeder card brand in some part of the world AMD could provide enough product to start-up Asrock. My thinking is they are dropping some "AIB contact manufacturing company" that builds boards for a couple of the lowly brands (not sure which) and offering that at high margins.
