At long last! Bethesda announced that the next major entry to the "The Elder Scrolls" franchise is in pre-production. There's no episodic title attached to this game, other than "The Elder Scrolls VI," yet. The teaser trailer reveals a ginormous rocky landscape by the sea, which could be High Rock or Hammerfell. The studio revealed absolutely no other details so far.

The reveal trailer follows.

Hopefully, this one will finally have a decent sory line that actually makes sense and it's not overly cheezy and utter crap.

YESSSSSSSS I cannot wait for the divorce papers this will produce!

Ooooo I had a feeling we were about due! I'm really curious to see what they'll come up with this time around. Skyrim was such a game-changer it will be hard to top. But maybe they don't need to pull that off again. I'll take something that's quite a lot like Skyrim only with improved graphics, a more developed system of choices/consequences (rather than the illusion of them,) better engine, better balancing, and so on. I kind of almost hope they don't reinvent ES too much with this one. Skyrim is *almost* an excellent game. I feel like with some modding, it actually is a fantastic game. One of the best and certainly one of my all-time favorites.

I guess I'd just really like to see Bethesda take the assets this series already has and really bring them up to their full potential. There's so much they could have done with the last game that they either didn't get around to, botched, or miscalculated on. Imagine Skyrim, but a total refresh with a new world, new story, expanded lore, and none of the issues that Skyrim had. That's all I ask for with this one. Should be a lot easier to do than reinventing the wheel a second time, which is what I think a lot of people are unrealistically anticipating. I sure hope they don't do that. I don't think that would go well.

The thing is... ...it doesn't need to have the impact that Skyrim had. It just needs to stay true to the spirit of what they accomplished with that game to get the same acclaim. IMHO.

My last girlfriend got me into Skyrim. She'd been trying to get me to play it for a couple months. One day she sat me in front of the PS3, handed me the controller and said "I really enjoyed our relationship. You've been so good to me. Good luck with your new life." and left me in the room with it for a day.

In most relationships this would've been a mistake, but I think she did it because she wanted to play more WoW. Needless to say, we had a good time just sitting almost silently next to eachother and staring at screens for hours on end. If anything, it improved our relationship. We had an unspoken understanding. It was great. There are also other benefits to spending a lot of time in the bedroom together in pajamas and or underwear, heh. I'm telling you, it was like a dream come true. Nothing beats not having to leave the house for anything but work/food, living in your pajamas, having ready access to video games AND the *ahem* benefits of a good relationship :p I consider myself very lucky. I'd do it all over again if I could find another one like that. Problem is she's probably stuck in her room somewhere :/

I can't wait for another bugs-infested game running on piece of shit engine from 2005 that's just as buggy as the game itself.
No thanks. I am not paying for another bug release, which is a trend that goes all the way back to 1994 (I do have Arena and Daggerfall boxes somewhere around).

I've just opened the trailer.
Skyrim music? Really? This gets better and better. Yes that's irony.

New engine please, or no sale here

I was actually more excited about non Bethesda developed (only published) games like DOOM, Wolfenstein and especially Rage 2. It looks so much better than the first game.
F76 looks to be an online shitshow. ES is in pre-production and will release after Starfield which, by the rumors amongst the press, is aiming for next-gen console time frame release. Not to mention both games showed literally nothing. The teasers were so non-teasing it's actually amazing they could produce something like that.
Still better than the crap EA showed tho.

i hope its worth it, and whit 20euro game disk.

If it's as good a hiking simulator as Skyrim was I'll probably play it, especially if they introduce some kind of hardcore mode. The people and stories in Skyrim were very flat (as in all Bethsoft games), but I really liked the exploring.

Still has to go in Pre Production which means no sooner than 2023.

ANND.... I posted in the wrong thread.... Yup, I'm a dumbass.

what are our thoughts on skyrims civil war? did the peace treaty of high hrothgar stand, or did the last dragonborn turn the tide of the war, i hope bethesda covers this, death to the current empire, traditionally a dragonborn or a decendant of one sat upon that throne, personally i hope the last dragonborn joins the stormcloaks and eventually takes cyrodil and reinvigorates the empire for the next war with the thalmor

I never got them to sign a peace treaty, I just wiped out the stormcloaks and General Tullius installed jarls that would be loyal to the Emperor. They can't do anything specific, because the solution to that questline was based on player choice.

I’m willing to bet there is a canon storyline that will be there in the new game’s “history”. I also think it probably lies along the lines of stormcloak defeat and keeping the empire together.

i hope they dont focus on graphics much more than they did in skyrim. Longer and richer 'single player' game is much more important than game engine and graphics. Thats why oblivion and skyrim were successfull

You are aware that the people working on textures DO NOT have ANYTHING to do with the game's content?

You basically have it all wrong.
Engine is almost just as important. What good are great quests and whatnot when the game is constantly crashing, for example?
And there's NO excuse for having crappy graphics at this time and age.

P.S. Skyrim textures are few levels below awful. That is including the so called Hires texture pack.

Skyrim was not the most graphical intensive game back in 2011... it was already behind by 2-3 years compared to other games. DX9 in late 2011 when there were a bunch of DX11 games since 2009.

I love Skyrim and have a bunch of top 100 mods in Nexus, but damn how could Bethesda be considered one of the top 3 all times Developers alongside RockStar... i can see them as one of the top 10 but not on the top three, their games are EXTREMELY buggy and usually released in a non working state... there are a lot of quest stopping bugs even on SkyrimSE.

I'm desperately hoping that they have a new game engine for this one.

People who are working on texture are not working for free. IMO it is like this, to have best graphics you have to spend most of your resources on game engine and on graphics instead of giving priority to game experience. Almost all games that have top graphics are either games with shit epxerience or are short. While all enjoyble and amazing, long lasting games has either Very good (1-2 years behind current top standards) or Good graphics.

You are so clueless I don't even know where to start.
Believe what you want.
