Hi everybody.
I'm getting a new ryzen 2700x and i was wondering what mobo to pick. There's a lot of motherboards in the market and I'm aiming for something good but not the top shelve. There's absolutely no OC involved in my new rig (pointless with Ryzen). What motherboard would you recommend to buy?
I'm thinking about
Płyta główna MSI X470 GAMING PLUS

Płyta główna MSI X470 GAMING PRO

Płyta główna ASRock X470 Master SLI

Płyta główna ASRock X470 Fatal1ty Gaming K4 (90-MXB7E0-A0UAYZ)

Płyta główna Asus PRIME X470-PRO

Other parts.
Mem G.skill flare x 3200
M.2 SSD samsung 970 pro
SSD sata samsung 860

Thanks for comments and advice.

Personally the asrock or asus prime out of those choices, i have not had a msi motherboard though so I'm biased but a decent Vrm isn't optional imho and msi makes some damn average Vrm sections imho.
Given the right parts and settings they Oc themselves very well , mine tops 4.2 all cores with little effort by me, So Far muha ha haaa.

Why ASrock out of the choices?

Actually I've been thinking about the ASrock boards. I've got some experience with them and they have never failed my expectations. Just wanted to ask for opinions of other users currently having these configurations for more info. I think I'll go with the ASrock just not sure which model exactly.
If you're not going to OC I'd just buy the cheapest of them.
I wouldn't go for the cheapest nor the top model. I always wanna settle in the mid range product since for me these are the best choices with what they offer. Going top for me makes no sense since I want use features they give.

I only used one and it was well setup and worked reliably, good part choice and layout and a good Vrm section.

MSI X470 GAMING PLUS with Fake 11 VRM :
https://www.anandtech.com/show/12990/the-msi-x470-gaming-plus-review

I have Asus X370 prime pro.i can boot more than 3200 but some folks over https://www.overclock.net , they were able to reach 3600 on X470 prime pro which was not possible with old one.
since I have no knowledge about other options , I don't know.

Only the 370 Crosshair could do 3600 @cdawall can testify lok

Heres a reference, he even does board breakdowns @buildzoid

Thanks a lot for the video. I was hoping for this video to wipe the doubts, witch which board to buy but .. well watching this has created way more questions and doubts, which board to get than I expected. Now I'm totally confused :) Thanks a lot bro :p
Maybe the best choice is to go with the top notch board anyway and just simply forget about the rest. The only thing is these boards are pretty expensive if compare to the lower end or mid range if you wish. Not sure how this mid range (some of them specified above) will affect the CPU power and thermals. Don't want to get fried VRM's on my board. :/ Decision is difficult and really this video makes me want to rethink my choice of the boards I've specified above.
Thanks for the video. Good stuff.

For the decade before 2012, we were strictly an Asus shop... since then I haveen't been able to recommend an Asus board outside the TUF line. Since that time, the most notable thing about Asus has been:

In Z87 / Z97 their performance was well below MSI and Giga
Reliability also went down during that period, but both performance and reliability rebounded in Z170 era
Since then, their biggest knock has been their propensity to use low budget on board components for sound and LAN subsystems ... If ya stay above $150, ya usually safe.

Choosing a MoBo by brand name is a fool's errand as RMA rates between brand have miniscule differences. For example, here's the RMA rates for latest test period.

ASUS 1,59%
MSI 1,63%

What is worth looking at is the RMA rate by model line. Anything over 2% is something ya might want to stay away from:
  • 5,71% ASUS Z170I-PRO Gaming
  • 5,59% ASUS X99 Strix Gaming
  • 4,70% MSI B150M PRO-VDH D3
  • 4,17% ASUS B150I PRO GAMING/WIFI/AURA
  • 3,81% ASRock FM2A58M-VG3+
As for VRMs, with today's more efficient CPUs, has been as much of a concern .... if you are spending > $150, you can feel perty confident.

As to your choices ....

-Forget the Gaming Plus and MAster SLI as they have substandard audio and LAN subsystems
-Prices (US) range by $40

61% of Board Owners gave the Pro Carbon 5 eggs
60% of Board Owners gave the Prime 5 eggs
46% of Board Owners gave the Fatality 5 eggs

https://bit-tech.net/reviews/tech/motherboards/msi-x470-gaming-pro-carbon-ac-review/8/

"There are obviously cheaper X470 options out there at the moment, and we'll be taking a look at more soon. However, for £160 the MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon AC makes a compelling case for itself with a solid set of features, few cutbacks compared to more expensive boards, and the best overclocking performance we've seen so far from an X470 board. The sheer mass of features and powerful cooling control on offer by the Gigabte Aorus Gaming 7 WiFi means it remains our favourite if money is less of an object, but if it's out of your budget range yet you still want a powerful, well-featured board for your 2nd Generation Ryzen CPU, the MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon AC gets our vote. "

Couldn't find any reviews worth reading on the Fatality...

Given the above, seems to be the Pro Carnon or the Prime, but from the user reviews my view was, the Pro Carbon is the best choice. Id look at The Giga Aorus board also before making final decision.

Taichi/Ultimate and Crosshair Hero/Extreme are the top boards.

Asus The Ultimate Force boards have been Trash since 2013.

MSI are not what they were during the Socket A-AM2+ era.

I did watch the videos and it's been very informative. I looked over a ton of information searching the web and believe me since you can find everything on the internet, sometimes it's really hard to find a strict answer to questions bothering you. I've been searching for answers, hints or other clues which board to pick for over 3 days.
Finally...
If I go with mid range it will definitely be MSI gaming carbon pro. I think that's the best choice for the money.

Well money isn't an issue but at the same time it is an issue. I don't want to spend a lot for just a board which I wont fully use. The top shelve boards are like that for me. I'd rather settle for mid range and the cash difference put into a SSD or M.2 drive or video card. There's always something you can crank up :)

Well being a 2700X which does the OC for you, it works for you great, I would go for a Crosshair 7 Extreme or AsRock Taichi Ultimate because Asus doesnt have a Sabertooth that is built like mine any Longer and I Overclock.

you dont need to waste your time with a manual OC, so go choose the board you like the most and dont worry about overclocking, as long as the VRM's arent total crap or have some airflow it doesnt matter at all

MSI are low grade trash.

Can you tell me more ? my latest upgrade I went with MSI only because it ticked all the boxes otherwise I would of gone with Gigabyte as thats what I have personally used for around 18yrs with great success and I would of gone that again but I needed the PS2 for installing Windows 7 lol. My mate has used MSI AMD motherboards for along time now and he has never had any issues. I have built some basic PC's for clients using the odd MSI board and there all still running today, none have come back at me. Just wondering your thoughts on this really?

Well being a 2700X which does the OC for you, it works for you great, I would go for a Crosshair 7 Extreme or AsRock Taichi Ultimate because Asus doesnt have a Sabertooth that is built like mine any Longer and I Overclock.
I like your motherboard, a lot!

MSI is fine for average use cases. MSI is great when it comes to price / feature set on the midrange boards and the Pro Carbon leads that race really.

MSI is crap if you're looking into overclocking. BIOS is so-so and VRM is meh at each price point except the very top (Godlike).
Basically its Gigabyte all over again, even for Z370 this still holds true.

Asus is preferable when it comes to software and integration with stuff like Aura Sync. Be ready to pay your brand premium for that.

AsRock leads the pack when it comes to feature set + VRM + price from the lower midrange all the way to high end/enthusiast. Less nonsense, more bang/buck.

Actually the VRM on the carbon gaming is great. it's as good as on the Top shelve models and the only thing missing is doubler for the phases.
The carbon is 5+2 with good quality which is pretty great considering boards from the same segment.

Yes the Pro Carbon stands out. Great for its price point, certainly and for ambient OC, sufficient - but there are better options.
