Battlefield V is now live if you have paid for Electronic Arts' subscription service, giving gamers access to the title a day earlier than expected. At a cost of $14.99 a month or $99.99 for a year, you can take to the battlefield right now. We can only speculate that this was likely done in a bid to please subscribers while also trying to boost subscription sales. After all, it is blatantly obvious that EA's goal is to try and tap into a steady income stream that only a subscription service can provide. Sadly this has resulted in those that pre-ordered getting shafted to some degree. Resulting in a problem that wouldn't exist with a single set launch date.

This highlights the trouble that comes with a staggered release, someone is going to be the odd man out. Consumers that paid for the Digital Deluxe edition still have to wait till November 15th, while buying the base version means your left sitting on the bench until November 20th. That is roughly 1-2 weeks of waiting and will likely create some anger towards EA for how the release has been handled.

That said, while looking at early reports, the game is being received positively from those that have access. Granted a few bugs from the beta are still present with users reporting that audio problems remain an issue as do revive glitches, but otherwise, the game is considered quite fun and stable at first glance by the community. Still, this is only a small segment of the games potential user base so it is still a bit early to declare the game a success. For now, DICE will need to hunker down and squash bugs before the rest of the community gain access. Considering the current patch note list is 135+ pages, they have their work cut out for them. For those interested you can take a deeper look at the PDF containing the games launch notes here.

All you dirty scrubs need to pony up that $100 sub fee. EA needs more money to fill its swimming pools and you uneducated scrubs that haven't a sense of pride and accomplishment are getting in the way of progress...

Games are hard to make and cost a lot of money to produce - - EA. 2018

People get angry at everything. Stop pre-ordering games. It's ok to play it when it comes out.

What if you just signed up for a month and played the game and then canceled your subscription lol! I don't think you have to sign any contract that you will keep the subscription for a year correct?

Correct. That's how I played Madden 19 for a month. Now I'll resub for this, because while I play every Battlefield (since 42), I only wind up playing for about two months (except for 1942 and BC2, each of those I played hard for over a year each). So... Boom. $30, half the price.

I'll second that...
Even tho I use my PC all year I mostly game from November-March...5 months tops...$75 is still cheaper than $100

Yea that is what I was saying. Usually when I play games I probably just beat it and then play some multiplayer. Unless you play everyday I think its better to pay monthly fee for the game you wanna play and then just cancel the membership and pay 15 again haha. I think its cheap way to play a game that will just sit there otherwise.

I think I probably only get to play for a few months out of the year even though I like having a decent rig. So that is a better way to play for me than buying a game on uplay.

i cant believe it, you pay the suscription to their games library, and you get BF5! So it is little more than the Premium game edition....

As there is a Holland map (like in Post Scriptum, I also like it), I can't refrain from buying it! Sorry... but I'm downloading now.

Just back here, to report, it looks much better than the beta (narvik etc), and I do not refer to ray tracing, I am on a 1080Ti. The beta looked like BF1 maps,, this is much nicer.

After playing some beatiful dutch maps, we came to Narvik. Does not look half as good, maybe it's the snow, ... but Polder landscape is excellent.

Well I still say EA sucks and they will always suck but I'll be damned if this Origin Premier isn't actually a fantastic deal... for me. This game and BF1 are worth the fee alone.

I believe some people with a lot of free time could play the game as much as they want the whole November for $15 and cancel. $15 for a new AAA no-brainer.

I'm amazed at the number of people saying they're okay with a subscription service (even if you do play for a short time and cancel). That's why I never got into World of Warcraft... also when I find a game I like, I can sink hundreds, or even thousands of hours into it over the months/years. One month doesn't cut it for a good game.

Its not a model that works for everyone. I really only have an hour or so to play most days and Im not usually interested in playing the same game for too long. The subscription service initially sounded like ass but the value in new games alone is worth the fee because I like to play the AAA titles like BF and Anthem.

A subscription service to a single game ? Hell no.

A subscription service to every game EA has made that's worth playing? OK

I wouldn't subscribe to a single TV show or channel but Netflix is another story...

Signed up to Origin Premier to try the game, as I was curious to see if it had improved since the beta.
Well, the game play is slightly better, but the performance of the game is erratic with frames getting stuck at 2-3fps for 30 seconds and then jump to 50fps. This is using the high preset.
I would say this is still very much a beta and it looks like it'll be one I'll skip, at least for now.

What resolution are you playing at? That performance sounds terrible for that system.

4K admittedly, but it's really all over the place. Even the menus get stuck at 1-9fps, which means you just have to alt-tab out of the game and close it or you just sit there, stuck in the menus.

This migh be unrelated but it sounds similar to stuttering i was having because too much ram was allocated to standby and not free to the system. I used rammap to confirm the allocation and from there you can dump the standby ram. It does just fill up again so i scheduled a task to dump it every 5mins. Gaming has become much more consistent. Might be worth having a look.

Not having this issue in any other games, including BF1, so this is something new and unique to BFV.

OK. Are you seeing any CPU or GPU (or hdd) usage spikes when it happens?

I've found this to be the smoothest day 1 BF game to date and our systems aren't much different.
