Sapphire Outs Radeon RX 590 Nitro+ OC Sans "Special Edition"

When you don't use any kind of frame limiter, sure. I'm a gamer, not a benchmarker, and I haven't seen it go over 165w because all my monitor can handle is 1920x1200 @ 60 Hz.

What do you mean you are a gamer not a benchmarker ? So all those peoples gaming at higher resolution or/and refresh rate than 1080p 60Hz aren't gamers after you ? You can easely see where im going with this , i can't say that a 1080Ti draws 40W because i simply use it to watch youtube .... same goes here !

Get out of here buddy with this garbage of a comment. If you can't contain yourself to have a civilized discussion take your own advice.

Funny how you skip the rest of my post and even more funny to see you asking for a civilized discussion after your first reply , here in France we say : '' HYPOCRISIE QUAND TU NOUS TIENS '' wich suits you perfectly !!!

Thank you for confirming what i was saying , i must have trigered some die hard fanboy fillings there by stating facts but hey i wasn't expecting any better from internet nowadays so yeah .... believe me you are doing me a favor !

Hm, gaming 7nm Vega II probably being announced/released at CES 2019 instead of Navi, AMD AIB partners coming out with "new" Polaris RX 590 makes me wonder if we'll see Navi release in 1H2019. It would be very strange marketing strategy to release RX 590 in december just to replace it with Navi in april. What do you think?

I'm waiting for Navi as Vega II will most likely cost around $700-800 offering only GTX 1080 TI gaming performance. Probably being just tweaked lower quality AMD Instinct GPU with less memory.

Pretty card. Almost all of my previous ATI GPUs were Sapphire, except 4870 which was HIS. Good customer service.

GCN cannot die fast enough. It is so inefficient nowadays.

Vega II, 7nm first as AMD need some high end stuff. Probably q2-q3 availability.

Navi is mid range. My guess is it won’t be available until q4

Guys, settle down. Stay on topic, and keep it civil.

We have a saying too : "Off to the ignore list with you"

You're way too emotional about this. The guy's correct. Read back and see what's been said. You're not even denying it, so what is the problem? As always, my trigger is when I see things written that are simply not true, and I correct that. You may or may not like it. Such is the nature of a forum. I can't stand for a twisted reality where a GPU suddenly becomes power efficient because we limit FPS at 60 and play low res. The logic is off, and that is why I reply.

@FordGT90Concept Furmark is by no means an indicator of realistic power usage. You can measure all you want but it won't change a thing, every single review shows the same power draw, which is excessive. I'll take that dataset over yours any day, sorry.

Whether or not the power draw makes a card bad or not, thát is a personal decision indeed. Whether that does or doesn't trigger you into buying one is your own choice. But omitting or twisting these facts is just putting blinders on.

But omitting or twisting these facts is just putting blinders on.

I never omitted it nor have I twisted anything, I have in fact stated several times that it indeed uses a lot of power as many other cards do . You keep insisting that I did not, reiterating the same thing over and over. It baffles me as to where you wanna go with this, you even agreed it's all a matter of preference which was entirely my point.

There's been driver updates since then.

It uses less power than the R9 390 it replaced for a higher framerate. Win-win.

its not that much of a upgrade seeing my 580 runs a 1520 if needed but I norm run at 1475, I wonder if this new 590 would hit 1600 if pushed ? charl.

The clocks aren't an improvement over the original 480. I pushed 1480+ out of all of my original sapphire nitro 480's from release day without bios mods. With bios mods and better cooling they would have easily pushed 1600.

When downclocked to the same performance level as a 580 it does consume 40-60w. I did testing on this a year or so ago and posted performance results.

Its a sku that will replace the 580 stock, polaris 30 is a dieshrink of the 580. So obviously for 580 users, yeah no upgrade unless if the card dies, the same can be said of the R9700Pro vs R9800Pro/XT.

IDK, Right now at Egg the 590 Blue "Special Edition" is $260 w/FS and three new game downloads. If Sapphire get's this in the market for $250 to starts seem fair-er. Even while many better optioned 580's now in the $200-220 price, this now entering the market at a sustainable high/mass production SKU is a boon.

Well, until such RTX 2060's show, but I'm not holding my breath as pricing/power for those either.

RTX 2060 aren't going to be a reasonable price until the inventory of GTX 1060s is gone. I think there's a lot of them yet.

Apparently we're reading different topics then

Doesn't mean much, every card peaks at a very high wattage. My 1080 reaches 230W according to the internal software reading and likely much more than that in reality.

To whom ? You ? Whatever floats your boat but no one cares if you think it's a lot.

Just be fair, and use apples - apples comparisons. The 1080 is nearly 50% faster at the same power draw, and @RH92 correctly states these cards draw an incredible amount of power for their performance. You then come in and say it doesn't mean much because a much faster card does something similar. Anyone with the slightest bit of reading comprehension can see the context here, including me, so I responded to that. Then @FordGT90Concept comes in saying his card uses less because he frame limits it. I mean... o_O

I'm just going to leave this here for everyone's consideration, and that is me out of this topic. If you want to keep twisting that into 'but all cards use a lot of power' then there is nothing left to say.

Good grief, thanks for pointing that out, I didn't know that. I don't know man I just find it hilarious you're trying so hard to convince me of something that I already know.

You then come in and say it doesn't mean much because a much faster card does things similar.

Let's do a thought experiment, say I switch from a 590 to a 1080. What will I notice apart from the aforementioned 50% extra performance ? Nothing. It's an insignificant thing that this card is more efficient form the point of view of someone that just upgrades his card or whatever. And yes it means little, it's not like these things are an order of magnitude apart from any other point of view, including power consumption. Do you get it now why I said all of that ?

If only you'd at least pay some attention to my wording, it's obvious that when I say things like "means little" (pro tip, that's not me stating a fact ) I am not standing there with a calculator in my hand computing perf/watt metrics and denying reality as you claim. Jesus man, you keep saying I twist things when in fact it's just you missing entirely the point that I am trying to get across.

I am simply being pragmatic and you just can't stand that for some reason, I find that very odd. If this point of view really is as incomprehensible as you make it out to be then I too have nothing left to say.

Low quality post by zilul
And here I am with my poor-self running an 650ti boost, watching people fighting over a "totally" fine cards.

Just give me already some of your money (and time) ffs! :D

Radeon Settings
Just curious if something like HWinfo64 would be off by the same amount? It pulls quite a few readings off the GPU, among many other things.

Is it me or the exhaust port is way too small?

Typical size for cards with a DVI port. It's not a blower HSF so it doesn't really matter.

Nobody is pragmatic when he 'upgrades' from a GTX 1080 to an RX 590. That's called a massive downgrade that happens in nobody's rig ever

Thanks for confirming that you are indeed not reading anything that I write. That's really all I needed to know.

That wasn't the context you replied to or said it in, and you know this just as well as I do. Either admit that or admit you were being unclear. Literally no one read your comment as you say it now.

Yep corrected that and deleted it for the exact same reason.

I am sorry but no one is reading what I write before replying period , as I have shown it. Wasted way too much time on this and you probably did as well. This was a way too long chain of misunderstandings, beating dead horses and all that.
