While we have covered the MonsterLabo "The First" case earlier this year with it appearing at Computex 2018 and again with further details later, it was also on the showroom floor at CES, meaning we were able to get a closer look. While the design promises passive cooling, the system that was opened for viewing on the showroom floor was equipped with a single 140 mm Noctua fan (can't-miss that color scheme). Which means we can't consider it a passive cooling case as shown. However, it is likely that with lower TDP parts it is entirely possible. Even so, with the use of a single low noise 140 mm fan it handled the configured systems just fine. One system used an Intel Core i5-8600K and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (Far West mod), while another (white) system featured an Intel Core i5-8500 and a GeForce RTX 2070.

Update: We have some exclusive images of the case in the hot Nevadan desert, managing to still look cool.

Taking a closer look at its cooling capabilities the heatsink is huge weighing in at 2.7 kg and is comprised of 21 aluminium fins which receive heat via twelve 6 mm heat-pipes. Compatibility with various components is a bit limited but should not pose too many problems considering the cases current limitations. Graphics cards cannot exceed 270 mm in length and motherboards are limited to the mini-ITX format. That said, when it comes to power supplies, ATX, SFX, and SFX-L formats are all supported. Honestly, specifications aside the case does look quite striking especially the Far West mod version by Gizmo2Poche which really stood out compared the other systems that were on hand. The MonsterLabo is a unique case for those wanting something genuinely different. Pricing is listed at 369€ for the basic package and 429€ for the premium package.

It's begging for a low power 7nm AMD CPU. ;)

Maybe we will hear about something suitable coming soon at today's event ...

I've seen other passive cooled pc's. How can they say they are the first?

They're like that guy posting 'first' in a comment section just after someone else did ;)

That's why they added some active components too, gotta make sure nothing is right, consistency is key :D

Looks neat, honestly. It is totally the type of thing I might actually put down the stupid amount of cash for, but not before I see a review from somebody like Steve.

Read the article, my little troll...it clearly states that a Noctua fan is fitted.

Are you saying that is not a Noctua fan? What is it then, a zombie hamburger?

does not change that tittle though, I feel the quotations are misplaced, should be: the first "passive" cooling case

What exactly does the GTX 1060 (Far West mod) look like? You reference it in the post and say it looks great and then there's no pictures showing it as far as I can tell.

Far West mod you know the one that has the case in brown photographed in the desert...???? thats the modded version it looks quite nice, end story. It also stands out from the all white all black and zotac themed ones making the special one rather obvious or so I would have thought.

The case is named "The First", therefore the quotation marks. Nothing incorrect in the title, *if* you actually read the article.

In which way is the GTX 1060 modified? Sure the case looks good, but your pictures don't show the GPU in any way.

The (far west mod) and (white) differentiated the systems shown nothing more. Its a news post about a case, not a graphics card. Suffice to say if the modded GPU was the focal point it would have been the article title.

I see that now, but what confused me was putting "far west mod" after the GPU model. It isn't until the second paragraph after the desert pictures that it's revealed that the Far West mod is the name of the customized case.
