ASUS Teases Collage of Upcoming AMD X570 Motherboards

With AMD expected to launch its 3rd generation Ryzen processor family at the 2019 Computex, the show is expected to have unveilings of several compatible motherboards based on the new AMD X570 chipset. ASUS posted a collage picture that teases its upcoming X570 lineup. This appears to include boards from pretty much all of ASUS's brands, including the high-end ROG Crosshair, the upper mainstream ROG Strix, the mainstream TUF Gaming, and the sober Prime series. From this, the ROG Strix board appears to be the first one we've come across that doesn't use a fan-heatsink to cool the 15W TDP X570 chipset. The Ryzen 3000 "Matisse" processor and X570 chipset make up AMD's "Valhalla" desktop platform.

Motherboard makers didn't really believe in Ryzen back then, and I don't blame them for that. The AM3+ platform was probably no cash cow for any of them.

2 years ago I would not believe amd as well, things changed and now Intel is the one not to be trusted.

I see one board with x8 SATA ports which is great as i hoping at least one Asus board had x8 as x6 is not enough for my use case
Going to build a server system later this year and i dont want to buy a crappy PCI-E board with more SATA ports if i can get x8 on the motherboard

I've seen your posts before, and I don't think you have to worry based only on what we've seen so far.
There are 22 X470 boards listed here, and 5 of them have 8 SATA ports. So yeah, they're in a minority, but not that uncommon. I expect a similar amount of boards with X570.

I've seen your posts before, and I don't think you have to worry based only on what we've seen so far.
There are 22 X470 boards listed here, and 5 of them have 8 SATA ports. So yeah, they're in a minority, but not that uncommon. I expect a similar amount of boards with X570.

What are the pros of having a X570 in a server? Do you really need that?

Its not a real server its more of a home media PC with a 5-6 HDD´s in it and with a Blu-Ray drive (yes i still use and need that) and a SATA SSD i need x8 SATA ports
Really annoying that many boards these days only have x6 as every single motherboard i have had since 2007 all have had x8 and the board i have now has x10 SATA ports

I am waiting for the 16 TB drives to show up and i will be getting 2-4 of those to replace older and smaller drives i have now

ASRock actually has two X370 boards with 10 SATA, so yeah, the number of ports are dropping. :/

The Asrock X370 Taichi has x10 and the X470 Taichi has x8 so i am hoping they will stick to x8 and i hope Gigabyte and Asus has at least one board with x8 as like to have more than just a single option
Otherwise i have to ditch either the SATA SSD or the Blu-Ray drive and i really dont want that, NVME drives are a waste of money for my use case and they cost quite a lot more than AHCI drives where i live

Because of where the PCI-E slots are i will need extra long SATA cables that can reach the drives and they will probably have to go across the main chamber of the case which not only looks ugly it can decrease air flow

So its extra money for PCI-E card with extra SATA ports its more money for extra long SATA cables it looks ugly and messy and its all around just worse than having those 2x more ports on the motherboard
I am not even sure if those PCI-E cards i can find supports S.M.A.R.T.

Its too much money time and effort and i really dont want that so having x8 on the motherboard is a must its easier its cheaper its better and its looks better

NVME drives are a waste of money for my use case and they cost quite a lot more than AHCI drives where i live

so.....get a sata based m.2 drive. You may lose a sata port though...or a slower nvme based m.2 drive are a lot closer to sata pricing.

Such a drive still use a SATA port so i dont see the difference between a 2,5 inch and an M.2 drive other than less cables

I also suggested a slower nvme based m.2 drive which are priced a lot closer to SATA. Mushkin helix-l is $120 for 1tb and a lot faster than sata.

Yeah, I see your point. Although any X570 board + SATA board may not cost much more than an 8 port X570, as those tends to be the most expensive. Germany is the place to look if you want lower prices.

An 860 Evo in 2,5 inch is 2435 kr and the M.2 860 Evo is 2 kr less so i might go with the M.2 version when the time comes just so i dont have to deal with the cables
We dont have Mushkin in Denmark so thats not an option sadly

What i need is size not speed so if prices drop i might go with the 4 TB 860 Evo and no 4 TB NVME drive exist that i know of?

Yes like i said in my last post what i need is size not speed and would like to stick with Samsung because of their reliability
The 4 TB costs too much right now but there have been rumors for a while about price drops so might go with the 4 TB and NVME dont go above 2 TB as far as i know

You have no idea what you are talking about. The AM3+ is still being sold to this day.

More offtopic: I'd say that's a high price for an 860 EVO, even by Swedish standards. 1500 DKK in Germany. You could save a lot by ordering from there when the new CPU's arrive.
