The annual Steam game sale celebration is here, in the form of the Summer Sale. The now legendary platform for games consumption on the PC ecosystem has announced that from today through July 9th, thousands of games are experiencing price cuts that can go up to 90%. If you're planning to get your game fix, and it isn't an EPIC Games Store Exclusive, you can try and pick it up here at a discounted price - provided you can actually reach the site. Storefront price cuts are Devil May Cry 5 (-34%) and Assassin's Creed: Odyssey (-50%) but you can also grab Ni-oh, for example, at a 60% discount. The new Summer Sale now features a Steam Summer Grand Prix mode, where users can band together in groups to complete milestones (including unlocking quests and achievements) that will grant users games from their wishlist as they achieve "Pit Stops".

As it stands, it seems there have been some connection issue,s with users reporting "502 - Bad gateway" errors. For me, the page simply appears blank, with not even a single error report shown (after I finished writing this piece, I tried the steam store page again, and it seems to be working - at least for now.

The sale looks pretty good to me but it's hit or miss with the games. I think Steam is swamped with requests right now.

I'm going to get:

Rise of Nations
Age of Empires III Complete Collection
Act of War: Direct Action
IL2- Sturmovik
Total War: Medieval II
Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars
Aquaria
Shadowgrounds Survivor
TimeShift

Total bullshit this Summer Sales. No trading cards! Steam getting more and more competition from other eshop and they fu ck up completely those event that makes the difference from the competitors.

Age of empires 3 is not really worth it. The story line or game is not worth of the age of empires name.

I can't say I'm terribly impressed with their sale. Then again, it's probably been a good 4-5 years since I can recall thinking Steam had a good sale.

I still have my physical copies of:
* Rise of Nations. Thought this was a fun game, put a good 80-100 hours into it.
* Age of Empires III. I never really liked it, but I got it free with some hardware purchase years back which is why I even own a copy.
* TimeShift. The game is still factory sealed. I thought the demo I played of TimeShift was pretty good, which is why I bought a copy, but just never got around to playing it.

On my Steam wishlist I have 50 games. Out of those 50, 9 have co-op capabilities. I need to move the single player games to my GoG wish list. I just kind of stopped using Steam as my go to for digital purchases and it's been 12+ months since I purchased a new game on Steam (not counting the recent Grim Dawn DLC). Generally any game I get on Steam these days is gifted to me from my brother to play it co-op.

Trading cards makes the difference for you on Steam sale compared to competition from other eshop? That's a mighty low bar what did the competition offer free desktop wallpaper's to download!?!?

If u need i have a lot of free wallpaper to give to you! XD

FNAF VR is not on sale, so is Vacation Simulator.

Bummer

This may be the first year I take a pass. I'm swamped with bills and have so many unplayed games as it is. A lot on my wishlist got marked down though.

Most of my wish list is far out, timewise, so no sale, and I have many games still to play. Still, I’ll keep an eye on it all the next 2 weeks. Maybe so ething will catch my eye.

It's been many years since I played either of of those games but I recall they were both fun. Just taking a quick look at reviews they both got good to excellent reviews.

Too bad none of the stores carry RON: Rise of Legends. I somehow missed playing that game back in the day. Both games are from the same Publisher and Developer. Not sure what the issue is with it not being available.

Looks like another bland sale. I remember when I used to save up for these.. But in recent times, almost all my discounted purchases have been outside of these big sales, so much so, that I don't even look forward to them anymore.

In any case, my yearly budget is pretty much all gone already...

Most games on my wishlist are constantly coming up for sale during non-big Steam sales. The sale prices on these off-sales are usually just as good or sometimes better than what they offer on big sales. It's just not, in my opinion, to wait on a big sale from Steam anymore if I really want to buy a discounted game....just wait for it to hit a sale price during a midweek sale.

I remember Rise of Legends on the shelf back in the day, but I never grabbed a copy. If I wanted to play it I'd probably hit up Amazon and get a copy there, but to find a copy complete with box/case, manual and well maintained CDs looks like it would run you $40+ based on what is for sale on used copies.

I read somewhere that with certain types of DRM put on game disks that Win 10 won't even let you install it. Then buying a used game can be a problem if you don't get the key with it. Somebody posted a site where you can rent games for a day or a month. I might rent it for a month for $10.

W10 is draconian in regards to that. They actually extended that in an update to W8.1, where I moved all my physical games to.

I did however find out which update it was and remove it from the 8.1 build. It was preventing me from installing Wolfenstein (2009), and believe it or not, Microsoft’s own Gears of War.

I watched some Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends game play and it looks fun. I remember my old online game buddies where playing rise of nations but I never got into it. I was playing Homeworld or age or empires 1 and 2.
