NVIDIA Announces the GeForce RTX Super Family

NVIDIA today supercharged its lineup of gaming GPUs by introducing GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER, GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER and GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER -- delivering best-in-class gaming performance and real time ray tracing for today's and next-generation games. The result of nearly a year of architectural and process optimizations, the new GeForce RTX SUPER GPUs deliver the fastest gaming performance, and the best power efficiency of any gaming GPU in their class. They also offer gamers an uncompromised combination of leading performance and cutting-edge features.

Ray tracing is the advanced graphics technique used to give movies their ultra-realistic visual effects. Only GeForce RTX GPUs use a hybrid architecture of advanced shading, programmable ray tracing and compute cores to deliver ray traced games in real time. Ray tracing is supported in industry standard APIs, including Microsoft DirectX Raytracing (DXR) and Vulkan, as well as in the game engines used by developers to create games, including Unreal Engine, Unity, Frostbite, id Tech, Northlight, 4A Engine and more.

What a weird release this time around. We perfectly knew in advance the price, the performance and the fact that NVIDIA is still primarily competing with itself. Hopefully AMD will reconsider their pricing and make NVIDIA lower their prices because otherwise there's little if any progress in terms of GPU compute power - price ratio. Hopefully Ampere on 7nm/RDNA 2.0 in 2020 will be something to be really excited about.

I still really dislike that NVIDIA went with the SUPER naming scheme. 2060S/2070S/2080S or 2065/2075/2085 would have looked like so much more professional but I guess the young will like SUPER more ;-) so NVIDIA marketers might be onto something here.

This idiotic meme which was born on reddit/WCCFTech years ago and still making rounds is still utterly idiotic. Early adopters have the money to buy what they want, they enjoy the performance increases and features they need, they enjoy top products for quite some time, they finance tech companies R&D, and then the rest of us reap the fruits of their dedication. Technology advances, those who don´t want to lose money, have to stop buying PC hardware. If instead of being refreshed cards, would price reductions be better? It will be the same ... and price reductions on products with 9 months of market are very likely to happen.

I bought mine GTX 980Ti in July 2015 and 11 months later the GTX 1070 came out, with more performance and much cheaper. It´s progress, and no one should be against progress.

Who can not handle the fact that "tomorrow" might be something better and cheaper on the market, needs to stop buying PC hardware or any kind of tech!

First its $380 and $450 for the cheap blower GPU, cards with real heatsinks will be way more expensive.
Second, Both 2060 and 2070 got replaced by better cards making both 5700 and 5700XT dead on arrival at such prices, both cards were worth $200 and $300 tops, but AMD got greedy too, thanks to that Super cards are overpriced and their new cards are pointless.

But the first-gen RTX 2000 series themselves did not provide such a "more performance and much cheaper" improvements over the last generation in the first place.
That "more performance and much cheaper" improvements starts now with these "super" lineup, first-gen users are sacrificed.

I mean if you play the waiting game, (these cards are pushing being out a year already) you'll never buy as the next gen or an incremental update is ALWAYS around the corner.

Just buy the best you can afford at the time you are ready. There is literally nothing anyone can do.

Yes that's why I said I am only 50% burned.
I looked for 1080ti performance back in October and luckily got a 2080 at the "Real MSRP"
I got what I paid for, 1080ti performance at 1080ti price.

But $599 2070 and $799 2080 ? Nope at that time and now it is "Super Nope" .

2070 Super is $499... $20 more than the FE MSRP.

These are the polished turds (in price to performance) of the lineup. You get 12% performance increase (2560x1440) for 4% price hike (9% performance increase for those who 1080p with this card). I'm not saying it's a good deal, but it's slightly better out of the box to get a Super version over the regular (not matter what AIB card). It beats Radeon VII, is A LOT heaper, and uses less power.

The 5700XT is supposed to perform, in average according to amd, single digits % faster...no idea on price or power use though...
