Quite a few cases have a pair of vertical expansion slots that let you show off your graphics card through the glass side-panel, but don't include a PCIe riser cable. ASUS swooped in with a solution, the ROG Strix Riser Cable. Possibly the first ROG Strix product in years without any RGB LED illumination, the Riser features of a thick base plate that doubles up as PCB, with a metal reinforced PCI-Express x16 slot, dubbed Safe Slot. ASUS uses this slot in many of its premium ROG-branded motherboards. It offers up to 1.8x shearing force endurance compared to a traditional unshielded plastic slot. The baseplate is connected to a thick ribbon cable with rubber outer insulation, which connects to the PCIe x16 gold fingers. ASUS did not mention the length of the cable, but states the total dimensions of the accessory as 240 mm x 127 mm x 10 mm (LxWxH), so the cable should probably be 18-20 cm in length, if not more. The company didn't reveal pricing or availability information.

Adding rog just inflates the price, it wont sell well

no RGB! its on my wishlist now!

is it pcie 4 compatible?

Not enough visible branding, no RGB

Why?

Oh noooooo Mr. Bill, noooooooo.....

a pc part without R.f'n.G.f'n.B....

Pleeeze tell me it aint so, cause the world will surely be imploding upon itself soon if this is true.... we're ALL doomed now

Hey Scotty, pleeeze beam me up quickly before I die :respect:......:D

it carnt be fast if it has not rbg. what was thay thinking eh :) I got a free one with my p5 works a treat and reflects rbg too under the gpu makes the Thermaltake logo look 3d.

Looks prettier than the one's I can get on Aliexpress/Banggood/Gearbest etc....but Asus didn't reveal pricing for a reason. I guess it'll cost many many times the basic alternatives.

This is what I want to be looking at
I have the cooler master one and while initially the quality seems fine, after a couple of re-seats its all crinkly and I don't trust it as much anymore

Quality is key for these things especially if the GPU is worth a grand

Riser cable pri es are pretty inflated to begin with, I'm really curious about how much more they plan to mark up and still sell.

How could they possibly forget to add "gaming" to the product name? If it doesn't say "gaming" in the name, there's no way it'll be good at "gaming".

What I would like to see, though possibly very niche, is for there to be a base-plate and cabled for 2 x16 slots.

This would be for people using water cooling on graphics cards that can be single slot with a waterblock, though I don't know how many of those there are any more either.

So, what does one do with it if one wants to use the top PCIE slot on the motherboard?

IF you have other PCI-E cards better forget these 'solutions', it creates more problems than it solves.

Riser cards solved problems?

the more pci- kit ya wanna use the more riser cards you need , thay come in all different sizes and speeds and one thing for sure is if you want a good one it arnt cheap.

This. I'm still waiting for Silverstone to make an updated, pcie 4 compatible riser card for their rvz01/ftz01 style cases.

I do believe there are some available on Amazon.

is it pcie 4 compatible?

It looks like the cheap unshielded ones miners used that had trouble coping with PCIe 3... so probably not.

Riser cards solved problems?

In certain cases, yes. And by cases, I mean computer cases intentionally incorperating them. They do exist.

Take my advice, the best one is made by 3M and costs nearly $75.00.

A good riser is not cheap, nor will any future pcie4 one be so.
