Epic Games has just done something that's sure to garner a lot of attention: they're offering free copies of Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto V. Yes, you can stop reading now and go on and grab it; you know you want to, even if you've played it on console already. The game is the latest entry in one of the most legendary franchises in gaming, and as it stands, counts with a 96 Metascore and a 7.8 user score. Even though the game has been released over five years ago, it's still one of the greatest, featuring a live community on its online components.

Grabbed it earlier just as their servers were starting to flake out.

I would not want this even if it was free on Steam.

I only grabbed it due to the Magpie in me, was never gonna pay £30-40 for it no matter what marketplace.

Still error 505. I've already got GTA 5 on Steam but it's always good to have a backup...Plus it may run off the exe like Control.

Okay game, shame they only focus on the multiplayer side these days, I wanted to love it but preferred GTA IV ultimately.

No thanks, not supporting in any case for the EGS. They only want user base from freebies and all. Not going to give them what they want at all.

I'll take all the freebies they provide, if and even they stop with the freebies I'll sell the 3 accounts I have on epic on ebay for a few hundred bucks.
When there was "on the house" free games, sold that account for $600.

Smart business sense.

More dubious than smart. It's a violation of the user agreement and you risk getting permabanned from the service for doing it.

That's nice. That really adds to the conversation...

Anyway, it should be noted that they're giving away the Premium Edition, so you get a few extras as well. They also have another sale going on, so you can grab a free $10 coupon to start and you get another $10 coupon with every purchase. The fine print is that whatever you use your coupon on has to be $14.99 at checkout, so you can't use it on anything less than $24.99. Luckily for me that's the exact price of the Control Season Pass so I was able to nab that.

Edit: As Sithaer said below, it's probably good on any game $14.99 and up.

I have a 512GB with several games installed, including another 90GB monster in Destiny 2, and I still have over 260GB free. I'm good.

I had a 10 Euro coupon from 2019 holiday which had the same 'rules' as the current one at least based on the coupon description.
You can use it on a 20$/Euro game and pay 10 at checkout,at least thats how it worked with 20 Euro Beyond Two Souls I bought with it a few weeks ago.

The minimum price has to be at/over 14.99 and not the checkout.

I have my Epic and other launchers on HDDS '1+3TB' so I'm good.:) 'fast enough for me anyway'
Borderlands 3 with 2 Dlcs is already 86.5 GBs too.

You can bypass the Epic snail servers and install the game through the Rockstar Games Launcher "virus" app. getting ~22MB/s from there compared to ~168KB/s from Epic. I don't spend a penny on Epic's store but I do take all the freebies to add to my hoard.

Dont worry, I keep all accounts in their own use profile in windows. I see people selling their own epic, or steam accounts on ebay all the time.
There is a game called NavyField, it used to be very popular 10-15 years ago. I sold some items on there that I was given to me by other clan members for new tires on my car. The game was dying at that point and I was getting bored on that game. I might even sell my level 100 Warthunder account.

I was gifted the game by an editor I work for so that I could review it. Having played the game, I would certainly have paid for it for the single-player alone.
Snarking at EGS's policy of free games and general business practice seems a little dog-in-the-manger and self-defeating to me. The Chinese (Tencent 40%) haven't invaded my PC yet, as far as I know.

I have 6tb of storage on this laptop, I'm fine.
