Model names of 55 motherboards based on the AMD B550 chipset were leaked to the web by momomo_us. In an unexpected surprise, it turns out that ASRock will have the largest lineup of motherboards, with 15 models. ASRock's lineup will be led by a premium Taichi model (already pictured), but will also include a Phantom Gaming Velocita model, besides Extreme4 and Steel Legend. MSI has the second largest lineup, with 14 models. There's a surprise here.

We earlier thought the MPG B550 Gaming Carbon will lead MSI's lineup, but it turns out that there will be a MEG B550 Unify model at the top. The rest of the lineup includes MPG Gaming Edge, MAG Tomahawk, MAG Mortar, and MAG Bazooka. GIGABYTE has the third largest lineup, with 12 models. The series is led by an AORUS Master model. There are several other AORUS Gaming SKUs based on this chipset - PRO, Elite, and their Mini-ITX variants. ASUS plans to bring 11 SKUs to the table, including four ROG Strix series boards that include Strix-E, Strix-F, and the Mini-ITX Strix-I. There are also three TUF Gaming SKUs, while the rest of the lineup is made up of the vanilla Prime series. Biostar has two models, and so does SOYO. AMD is expected to launch its B550 chipset in mid-June.

That's not enough choice. We need at least double that amount.

Jeez... do mid-end buyers really need that many difference options for B550?

What’s the point? We can’t even buy power supplies right now...

I have 2 AorusM MB's as the best 450 Micro ATX. Looks like the Aorus ProM in 550 is gonna be better? Gotta wait and see how these boards pan out.

I just want a $100 B550 board with :

1. Intel Nic
2. Realtek alc1200

I only need 1 Gen4 M.2 Slot and 1 x16 slot for 1 GPU. Don't need RBG lights on the board or a ridiculous amount of RGB headers. I would pair the board with a 3600 when they go on sale for around $160.

What mid-end? Besides the lack of PCIe 4.0 lanes to and from the southbridge, this is identical to X570. Really makes you wonder why it took so long.

Apparently AMD has backtracked on B450 and x470 motherboards will now support Ryzen 3. So upgrading to one of these isn't necessary but for new buyers I can see the interest in these B550's. Especially that Gigabyte one mentioned earlier.

"... but it turns out that there will be a MEG B550 Unify model at the top." Good to read that!

For me its Aorus B550M Pro, should be decent mAtx board.
This time around there is some decent matx options, I would always prefer with one that has wifi and bt integrated. Good choices around with all brands. Msi has b550m mortar wifi ,asus tuf and etc.a lot of choices better for us.

ASMedia.

Yeah, better wait for DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 for those who already own pre-x570s.

it's either the B550 AORUS PRO or the STRIX B550-F. For me, at least.

Id like to know a price on that Asus Prime-A. Want to match one with a 3300x for my sisters build next month.

Soyo has two?
That would be the first PC boards they've made in almost 20 years that I know of.

I think that all the Zen 3.0 on X470/B450 was planned from the start by AMD and their AIB partners, they just tested the waters and in the worst case they planned to do what they did today, so they got free publicity(make every one talk about their future CPU's) and later make every one thank them for listening to their customers.. LOL.
look how much "Air time" they are getting just a day before Intel's CPU launch
WP AMD... WP.

I know it's made by ASMedia, but still, the chip was done.
Though I sense the implication is AMD couldn't just hand-over their implementation and ASMedia didn't figure it out, despite having support from AMD. Still doesn't sound quite right.

Here's hoping we don't get the instability we had back when 3rd parties were making chips for AMD, but we get another VIA KT266A instead ;)

Which chip was that? As B550 is brand new and it clearly took ASMedia some time to get their PCIe 3.0 shit working properly. For them, it's a complex part compared to what they normally make, if you look at their product range.

I mean, I know the top guys there and I have worked with them in the past, very nice and helpful guys, both coming from me as an ex journalist and as an ex customer of theirs. However, it seems like some of their engineering practises might need improving.

Yeah, fingers crossed and no more USB bugs either for that matter. A lot of the ASMedia guys are actually ex VIA people. Both offices are about 10-15 minutes from where I live.
