AMD isn't the only one making new CPUs: Intel plans to announce a new Core 2 Duo CPU and make some hefty price cuts on September 2nd. The Core 2 Duo T7800 is a laptop chip, will be clocked at 2.6GHz, run on a 800MHz bus, and have 4MB of L2 cache. Intel will also launch the Core 2 Duo T7250, which is clocked at 2GHz, with a bus speed of 800MHz and 2MB of L2 cache. For budget customers, Intel has the new 2.0GHz Celeron M 550. There is no word on how much these new processors will cost, but the current Core 2 Duo prices will definitely get cut on September 2nd.

Cool, thats good news for most (bad news for AMD...)

I really wonder though, price cuts on a Sunday? The day b4 labor day??

Anyway, sounds good, making way for 45nm :rockout:

hah, that's not guaranteeing the e-tailers are going to comply though

they sure as heck staved off as much price cutting as they could the last time

Are the new celerons even worth anything? Ive been looking at laptops and alot are offering celerons that are in my price range. Granted, my wife wont be fragging away but she hates slow damn computers, her words, not mine.

hehehe.... I think I need a new chip anyways.

It will give all the online shops a labor day sale price, now whether not they keep it like nflesher87 said who knows.

Anyone think this may be a preemptive strike against K10 and a ploy to get more market share and motherboards supporting Intel chips so they can lock in more customers?

Makes sense, AMD is starting to get its feet under it in both cpu and gpu markets.

There are new celerons out? I thought they were going to make new processors based off core 2 duo technology with 512mb L2 cache. Or is this already out and I had no clue?

Edit:Just realized they replaced them with the Pentium Brand. (Not Pentium 4 but Pentium) soon to be renamed like the entire line of processors.

Side note: Does anyone know if the Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0GHz are no longer being produced? A lot of the sites seem to be out of stock on several of the Socket M and P cpus.
