Gabe Newell Would Prefer a Xbox Series X over the PlayStation 5

Gabe Newell and his family have been living in New Zealand since early March after the coronavirus epidemic broke out. The billionaire Valve co-founder recently featured on a local news program to promote his upcoming 'thanks for having us' event. Gabe Newell was asked about his opinions on the Xbox Series X vs the PlayStation 5 about 3 minutes into the interview. When asked which system was the best he quickly replied "the Xbox", following up when asked about his answer with "because it's better". Gabe Newell was likely referring to the arguably superior Xbox Series X specifications in most categories except storage. With both consoles launching later this year, it will be interesting to see which console comes out ahead.

Does anyone doubt PS5 will outsell XBOX SEX? I'm still waiting for Microsoft to show me where that extra 2 TFLOPS goes. So far unimpressed. Maybe one day when Gears 6 on Unreal engine 5 comes out.

Im sure they are more profitable then ever...but where are all the guys and galls and formed that groundbreaking gaming development team?
Where are they? where are L4D3, HL3, TF3 or just something new?
Where is Source 2.0?

These were important games for many reasons....

Like most TV it doesn't say much of anything. Its a sound bite and a headline / clickbait.
 
Gabe is just mad Sony is partnering with Epic over Steam. :laugh: His honest answer would be neither.

I was gonna mention that, but then it occurred to me that the only PS timed exclusives that Epic had were all from Quantic. Death Stranding released on both stores at the same time, Horizon is slated for the same date in both stores, too.
Still, Valve must've made some kinda deal with MS to get all of their stuff, and on release, no less.

They need other outlets because their distribution system is a broken mess.
 
I have built a powerful gaming desktop and I have a powerful gaming laptop. There's NOTHING I'm seeing from Xbox or Sony to excite me thus far.

From what I can ascertain, Xbox is more powerful.

But from what I know, PS5 will outsell it.
 
I guess he didn't see that last Xbox event.‍♂️‍♂️
 
I'd just be content if he got off his stupid ass and had Valve fix all the glaring issues the updated Steam UI is having.

The only thing this story actually conveys to me is that he's still alive.
 
Xbox looks a bit more powerful, but with slower storage which is the slowest component that said in terms of pure specs Xbox does seem to have a edge. The controller on the PS I honestly prefer to Xbox, but that's preferential. In terms of game selection it pro's and con's with both I suppose, but Sony could have a edge on foreign import titles from your staple JRPG companies.

Total War is a Sega franchise Sagas Troy will be released on Aug 13 and is available for pre order on Epic right now. Steam also has pre order but the release date is 2021.

What does that have to do with MS and Sony's exclusives moving onto PC?

I think in the long term, Xbox has a chance of outselling the PS5, but not in the short term. People seem to have forgotten that MS bought a ton of gaming studios in the last 1-2 years. Those studios still dont have much to show, but they will eventually be pumping out exclusives. As they do, and if those become stellar AAA titles, the consoles will definitely move off of the shelf
 
GabeN is greedy and doesn't care about consumers. The stuff he does with Dota2 for example.... Oh well, I can't say I hate him but I don't like him as much as I used to back when I was young.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Xbox sales. There are a lot more people with a capable PC now than any previous console generation. I suspect a lot more people will just play Xbox 'exclusives' on their PC. I am one of those people. Plus PS5 will be able to play a majority of the big PS4 games. So if you haven't played any of those you already have rather huge library to choose from for the Sony camp.
