Reports circulating the web point towards Xiaomi planning to take the high-refresh rate market by storm, following very interesting releases in the more "mainstream" gaming display market. Reports place the company as preparing for an announcement on November 11th for the launch of a new, 1080p high-refresh-rate monitor. Sources seem to be in disagreement over the actual refresh rate - whether 240 Hz or 360 Hz - but they are adamant that a product - or perhaps both products - will emerge.

The $145 pricing is something that Xiaomi could well pull-off; the company tends to bet on market penetration first, before scaling its production with higher ASP products. Diagonal are expected at the 24.5" range, and a 1080p panel is all but guaranteed at those refresh rates. It's currently uncertain what kind of panel technology is at stake here - some mention AUO's IPS solutions, while others claim a TN panel is mandatory to achieve these prices. There's only so much tech that can be bought into with $145. That said, this monitor could become an extremely attractive proposition for gamers on a budget, though we all know that 360 Hz (and even 240 Hz) at 1080p are somewhat hard to achieve due to CPU limitations on performance.

Not necessarily. Xiaomi laptops, tablets and TVs are all over the place already(except US and maybe AU). I'm probably getting one of their newer 4K HDR TVs, cause I'm too broke for new 120Hz LG :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
It may take a little time, but soon these new monitors will get to EU market as well. Probably gonna end up on my next upgrade list, since my 4K Sammy UE590D is getting tired and will be exiled to my dirty dusty office.

The more Chinese manufacturers get into the monitor business the better , because ultimately this is going to bring prices down !

There's definitely not enough 1080p high refresh monitors available in 24" and 27", there's definitely not enough of that size... And there's especially not enough of them with TN panels, a serious duerth of those

that is insane wow... also I don't see this happening for two reasons, the 360hz panel by Asus launching this month will be sold out instantly and keep selling out for months, why would the panel manufacture sell its panel at a cheaper price to someone else?

the esports scene is huge these days, there is no way this panel wont sell out instantly.

Xiaomi is a great business ...if they continue at this pace...they will take over the world...they limit their profit at 5% only...that's why their prices are very competitive...a truly disruptive company...i have on of their phone i bought 3 years ago for 30% of the price of its spec equal from Samsung s9 plus ...and yet this phone is made of glass finish and whole screen bezel to bezel... i liked it so much and i just bought one of their kick scooters as well...good value for the money...good for consumers...

Xiaomi has better chances, cause they use Qualcomm chipsets in most of their international device variants.

I don't want to be the "why do you need something like this" guy but is there a noticeable difference between 240 and 360hz? I have a 240hz monitor and frankly, apart of the mouse pointer being buttery smooth, I don't really see a real gaming benefit.

Because it makes you feel great when you goes to bed, and even better when you wake up in the morning (sarcasm off, going to bed for now, good night everybody)

If you can pump out over 244 frames to feed that and notice certain games run better on V-Sync then of course I would get it imho

Gotta say it's extremely satisfying watching my mouse pointer and an experience I recommend to everyone, specially if you have a a 60hz display near while working. It's desktop porn.

I'm planning on getting a 3080, I'll try. Still, I got gsync so I haven't used vsync in ages.

The Chinese businesses are getting better and better everyday. 145 for 240 hz monitor is a big blow to the competition. TCL is doing well with TVs

You're forgetting the ASUS tax, the panel probably costs everyone the same.

Let's just hope Pixio, MSI, and some other companies get their hands on this so competition can really bring prices down, and we can buy from trusted sources. I don't trust this Eve company so I am holding off. Pixio I trust 100%, had 0 issues with them so far

Will they put ads with their monitor that pop out anytime and can only be closed from OSD?

I actually don't think the panel is expensive to begin with. It is usual Asus style to charge you a hefty premium for it. After all, they are the first to introduce such a high refresh rate monitor.

So it is actually in our favor that Xiaomi is getting into the display market, so that these big brands can't over charge consumers. And in my experience, Xiaomi product's quality is usually very good for its asking price.

Maybe in the models destined for India if I had to guess.
I wish we were joking, don't you? Geez, how did we get to this point.
But monitors are not connected to the net normally, so companies can't do too much of that compared to 'smart' TV's.

it would be great if they can provide a 27" 1080p 144hz under 145$ here in India. Most reputable brands Monitors price here are just ok and not that impressive, my monitor is now more than 9 year old and i am desperate for an upgrade, this could be it. I mean it has served me so well for over the years as i am also gonna upgrade my gpu soon (likely a budget one like 1650s or 1060 6gb), i might be able to achieve 100+fps in some lighter games or older triple a titles at least at medium if not high. Xiaomi is really aggressive with their pricing here for phones, laptops and pretty much all kind of lectronics stuff they make so i am expecting their monitors to be fairly priced as well, considering it even launches because in the past they had tedency to skip some of their products from launching in certain regions and it has happened on numerous occasions here too when we were actually anticipating them alot, i hope they don't disappoint with any such thing this time around

Watching and participating in arguments of "You can't perceive more than 60hz" over the years has me feeling rather smug as of late. Seeing quantified results and marketable high refresh rate displays has been a huge "I told you so" to all the naysayers. Glad to see this tech becoming more availible prices being driven down.

Sorry but this proves little, I can sell any load of total crap to people that convinced themselves of various fantasies.
Not that 60HZ is the limit, but we've know for ages how long it takes for rods and cones to 'reset' their chemistry for light to activate them again so we should know a theoretical limit, which would be determined by the chemistry of said rods and cones, and is probably even more limited by the subsequent processing of the ganglions. (although often the data if available relates to averages and does not indicate an absolute number for every individual on the planet , so we should take that into account - to a limit close to that average.)
Not sure why people in the past didn't give a definite scientific limit, but now that 'public' science is replaced with opinion I suppose we can't expect it anymore and we'd have to look up old medical reports ourselves to find out.
