It doesn't matter how much DRM-free music EMI Group PLC. and Universal Music Group make, if nobody sells it, there's no point. Thankfully, Wal-Mart realized this, and quickly remedied that problem. For $0.92 per song, or $9.22 per album (slightly less than iTunes, Napster, and other competitors), you can get yourself DRM-free songs from the previously mentioned record labels. Songs will be distributed as Windows Media Audio (WMA) files, and there is no mention as to what the bit-rate will be.

Currently, iTunes and Amazon are the only vendors selling DRM-Free music, but they will soon be joined by Wal-Mart, iTunes, and hopefully several others.

WALLY-WORLD FTW! They always have the coolest stuff!

Actually its less expensive than iTunes, which is $1.99 a song for drm-less music.

yay walmart!! Itunes isn't even really DRM-free, it imbeds your name and is an ipod format.

Well if 99 cents is the defacto price, walmart always sells for less, so Id like to see 89 cents be the price from them.

Somebody should probably mention that Wal-Mart only carries edited music in their library. No Explicit content at all.

So, a music gift card for an 11-13 y/o's birthday would be perfect then!!!! :p

That has its ups & downs.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying it's a completely bad thing, but I'm sure more than a few people here would've been upset to find out the songs they just bought were edited.

Correction - iTunes DRM-Free music is $1.29. Still more expensive.
