Possible Radeon RX 6700 XT Specs Surface, 12GB the New Mid-Range Memory Size?

running under the same clock mhz it's gonna be the same or 1% better

maybe you're talking about mining or something? because with gaming, with the infinity cache, it'll be alot faster than 1% at the same clocks. And I know you want to highlight IPC, but thats a BS restriction anyways since Big Navi can clock up to 2500.

RX 6700XT doesn't look like It will be such a great card in regards to performance/W ratio, I think RX 6800 or maybe even RX 6800XT will be better.
NV22 XT 186-211 W TGP (RX 6700 XT)
NV22 XTL 146-156 W TGP (RX 6700?)
12 GB GDDR6
Twitter
TBP(Total board power) will be pretty much on the level of Navi 10, unless these TGP values are only for AIB OC models and not the reference model.

Not too sure about this one...VRAM requirements are heavily exaggerated these days and its RT performance will not be enough to sway 3060/Ti/70 buyers, especially for Cyberpunk. Will have to be shoved down one budget tier at least (300-350 dollars) to duke it out with the 3050
In your opinion.

Generally the big cards are near the top of perf/W range for AMD or Nvidia, the best ones however are almost always the mid/upper mid range like Gx-104 (nearly the entire last decade) for Nvidia & 5600xt for AMD.

The VRAM requirements are going up but the games blowing past the 10 gig mark (Black Ops and Godfall) both look kinda shit and have absolutely nothing graphically on Control or even Doom Eternal. This is my biggest gripe with all this. Both nvidia and amd are going to charge for more VRAM and games are gonna take more VRAM because devs will prioritize optimising for consoles and "hey everyone has shiny new cards right?", but where are the improvements?

I am not very optimistic about that.
RX 5700 started selling for $349.
RX 5700XT started selling for $399.
Now the weakest Navi21 -> RX 6800 is for $579.
In my opinion RX 6700XT(Navi22) will be sold for $399 or a bit more, but will be >25% faster than RX 5700XT.
RX6600XT(Navi23) could be comparable in performance to Navi10, but will be cheaper, let's say $299.

if it's Half NAVI21, it wouldn't be too much to assume that it would have 64 MB of infinity cache. If they don't, well it would be hard to get a performance increase over the 5700xt if they only have a 192 bus unless they use much faster memory like GDDR6X. I find that unlikely.

As for memory, we are indeed into a position where we require way more ressource to increase significantly the graphics.

- Larger textures. That help on close-up but not much on object that are far away
- More texture : (like diffuse, normal, emission etc.).. this will improve graphic fidelity but it would need the engine to process it properly. Good ray tracing will require the usage of that.
- More unique objet. (each object will require unique set of texture and geometry), that may or may not have an impact on fidelity, but it may also have an impact on gameplay.
- More detailed object
- Larger environment with longer view distance

All that will require more memory. But the thing is right now, they scale memory on texture and things like grass because it can be easily scale down or up without too much impact. But at some point, a game will be made so the numbers of object, the details of each object and the size of the environment will be increased to match larger memory buffer.

Another thing is having a good sized memory buffer is you have more space to stream asset in and out and maybe limiting the impact of streaming on your FPS.

The 6700xt should be around 300€/$ for me to be impressed. But as we have seen for some time there is very little chance for that to happen.

Hmmm. 8GB is enough for me. I will be waiting for something that doubles the performance of my RX 480 with hopefully a price tag around $350 cnd (or less)

RX 5700XT is already ~93% faster than RX 580, which is ~5-10% faster than your card. You just need to look for a card with performance around RX 5700XT level and within your budget. Not sure If It will be a cutdown N22 or full N23.

I will upgrade in time but I simply refuse to purchase these cards at their current prices, drop them to the correct MSRP and we can talk business.

500€/$ for a top end card.

I paid 300€ for a HD5870, and paid 320€ for the GTX970 I'm using now.

If it's really 40 CU like the 5700 XT was, I'd love to see (in addition to the regular review, of course) benchmarks downclocked to the same clocks as last generation.

From the comparison, we could estimate the improvements purely due to architecture from RDNA 1 to 2 (including the rumored infinity cache).

wow... good job Nvidia in selling us overpriced underspecced cards...

Here are MSRP prices at the time and I also provided prices with inflation included in the brackets.
HD5870 MSRP was $379(Inflation: $460), the eyefinity version $479(Inflation: $582), a dual card HD 5970 was $599(Inflation: $727).
GTX 970 MSRP was $329(Inflation: $362), GTX 980 cost $549(Inflation: $604), GeForce GTX 980 Ti cost $649(Inflation: $714) and GTX Titan X cost $999(Inflation: $1099).
There were already graphic cards which cost more than $500 and that's without adding inflation to that price.
Wanting the TOP cards -> RTX 3090 or RX 6900XT to sell for only $500 is insane.

Damn right you're not sure.

3 out of 4 GPUs you mention aren't even announced, much less 3rd party tested. Game you express so specific knowledge about isn't published. There is no official prices for mentioned 3 GPUs.

I really don't like to make posts like this but your kind of prophetic gift kinda deserved it fully.

Wouldn't say Nvidia's offerings are underspecced or overpriced (Excluding the RTX 3090) It's just their VRAM could of been better.

Sure if you want to compare a Pontiac to a Porsche.

You guys are wishful thinking these prices and how product segmentation works and competition works.
Right now we have 500 - ish level products as cheapest for nest-gen products. Next Nvidia will launch the 3060 ti at 399 so Amd will have to counter. So if 5700xt will have 3060ti (2080 super) performance they will be around the 399 mark probably a little bit less. Next both will launch 299 price products and then smth around 200 - could be more tiers as this are price oriented customers.
Bottom line both Nvidia and AMD will have products competing on all performance/price segments. They will not leave a 200 price gap between lines as they are loosing on a a whole tier of sales.
This is how commerce, competition in capitalism works.

That was exactly my point.
I’m a 3070 owner and 8 Gb @ 14 Gbps are ridiculous...
