At Stock All-Core Boost, i9-11900KF "Rocket Lake" Hits 98°C with 360mm AIO CLC Under Stress

No we don't, it's speculation at this point - RKL itself is ICL backported to 14nm & Willow Cove will have at best marginal IPC improvement over it. Then there's the fact that it's on 10nm(?) & big.LITTLE - pretty sure when Intel's not even churning out 8c/16t TGL-H en masse there's little chance this can exceed eight high performance cores. At best this is to retain the 10900k crowd & even then I'm skeptical, of the top end, especially since 14nm+++ clocks sky high.

Hi,
Indeed what ever aio was used needs to be rma'ed lol
10900k does all core 5.3 at 80c max so I'd say op is fake news at best.
AIDA64 and Rocket Lake both support AVX-512 which is extremely power hungry. Anandtech tested a 9990XE with an AVX-512 workload and it throttled down to 3.8GHz from 5GHz.

Everyone is forgetting about ambient temperature which should be subtracted to get the real performance and comparison result. The best indication of ambient air temperature in the case about the CPU is the motherboard temperature or other powered down device temperatures.

Therefore i9-11900KF results:

Td = 98C – 37C = 61C

P = 250W

Your i9-10900K results

Td = 71C – 26C = 45C

P = 209W

In the end we are just comparing the efficiency of the 360 RAD coolers including how flat and good the interface is for the CPU hotspots. The other factor is just the CPU wattage which is just heat generation (watts are just watts). This whole article is basically a non-story!
Hi,
Seeing this is supposed to be a recent test/ fake news the weather this time of year is a lot cooler than 37c in China so ambient doesn't pass the smell test.

Yeah I've got avx offset and set at 0 and no drop in clocks.

I just upgraded from a 3800X to a 5800X which test are these I would like to try them.
If you could run Aida stresstest (make sure AVX / AVX-512) is on and share your temps. Please also give some details about the cooling solution you are using for your 5800x

Click the system specs under my avatar that is listed. I will install Aida in abit and test.

I think you guys misunderstood, rumors say Intel's water chiller broke down during testing.

As requested.

AIO pump speed and fans are set to Balanced mode, there is also a setting above that which I will try later.

I didn't run this test on my 3800X but from other testing I did the new cpu only runs a few degree's warmer. Maybe 5c are most I was in the same 70c-78c range.

I hope a 5 min run was long enough also.

Maybe that 5800x is not that hot after all. You do have a beefy cooler though... sure that helps! Thanks for your effort... I am looking for a new setup and I am looking into Amd 5xxx series and I am interested in the 11th gen Intel Cpu's coming out.

If you are looking to do a system upgrade I would considering waiting until the Fall to see what Alderlake is going to bring to the table.

You're 9900K is still plenty fast enough.

Rocket Lake S has no upgrade path and kinda late to buy into another DDR4 platform.

intel hater here, this is absolute bullshit, there is no way intel would ship a cpu with 1.4v for just 4.8ghz

Just needs better cooling.
