California-based BiTMICRO has unveiled its latest line-up of solid state drive (SSDs), the E-Disk Altima. The Altima drives feature the EDSA flash I/O controller and the LUNETA memory flash interface and although they are based on the old PATA 133 technology, they promise to deliver high transfer speeds. Set to bring high-capacity and high-performance yet cost-effective solid state storage to servers and storage networks, the 2.5-inch E-Disk Altima drives use single level cell (SLC) NAND flash memory chips and will offer read speeds of up to 133MB/s and write speeds up to 100MB/s. The new drive series will include models with capacities ranging from 4GB up to an impressive 416GB. The first E-Disk Altima samples will be ready in early 2008 while the drives' shipping date is planned for March 2008.

Too good to be true!? Those specs are rediculously good! :O

wow... bring it on, i wonder what this will so to prices of standard drives?

lol if even if they price the 416 GB at $1000 that would still drive down prices

lol $1000 more like $10000

it costs like 1016 bucks to get a 64g ssd in a alienware/dell system, probably like 10k for the 416g lmao .

Wow....that's probably going to be expensive.

WTF last I had heard it had only cost like $600

(laughs at himself since either way he couldnt ever in his life afford it or want to for that matter)

And $10,000 for that well maybe if its being privately sold to companies but if its going to be on the general retail market for consumers then they need to have the price be way lower than that.

sigh..I remember when I had a 4.6gb HDD LOL!! good times

Lol. Got you both beat, I have a 300MB drive floating around here somewhere.

EDIT: Nix that, I just disposed of a 300MB hard drive. lol

2.5" drive meant for laptop interfaces. There aren't any cables in a laptop, it just plugs right in.
