ASUS & Noctua Reportedly Developing RTX 3070 Graphics Card

ASUS appears to be working with Noctua to release an RTX 3070 graphics card with a custom cooler developed by the company. ASUS has partnered with other companies such as EK to release similar graphics cards with integrated water blocks in the past so this collaboration would seem possible. We have seen ASUS register a new model 'RTX3070-8G-NOCTUA' with the Eurasian Economic Commission however, more information on the upcoming product is sparse with details regarding what specific cooling system will be used and if other models will be released are currently unknown. ASUS replied to an email inquiry about the product saying they were unable to comment but that they would hopefully be able to announce something soon which lends considerable weight to these rumors. We have seen several renders and mods over the years of Noctua themed graphics cards one of which is included below in absence of any pictures or drawings of this card.

Price is going to be salty. Definetly would love to see gpu with noctua cooler.
 
Strap TWO A12x25 on the Strix heatsink and call it a day ?

Btw that render had NO exit paths for hot air, what an air trap
 
Should be on a 3080/ti/90.

I've modded Noctua fans onto stock/aftermarket heatsinks before and agree - much better.

However people who do this don't do it on mid range cards.

TBH more interested in seeing cards with large flow optimised heatsinks w/o fans similar to used in the Mac Pro, for ITX cases like mine. Seems to be most efficient use of space. I already have 4x NF-A12x25 two on top of case, two on bottom for flow through.

All the more reason I am confused if this is an actual thing. The EK collab of course makes sense since ASUS isn't making it's own blocks that I know of, but this is a weird thing unless it's marketed more by Noctua than ASUS.
 
Weird, it's kinda admitting your own engineering department and all the stock heatsinks/fans you boast about aren't good enough.
I think that there is huge probability that they will be engeneered by Asus and Noctua just give them their name or the name + SSO bearings.

Inbefore Noctua starts releasing their own GPU with next gen AMD and Nvidia.

Finally a step in the right direction, hope this will not make the gpu cost a lot more.

I was thinking this same thing, but I expected replaceable fans too. 80/92mm?
 
So Asus & Noctua looked at the majority of gpu deshrouds, and thought lets make it work.
 
Needs beige/brown and fancy Asus RGB ;)
 
The problem with cooling GPUs isn't really down to the quality of the fans or heatsink - sure it helps to have higher quality for both - but rather the fact that the graphics card itself is a solid wall of PCB that blocks airflow.

The short-PCB, extended flow-through heatsink designs are the clear winners here; The best way to get air flowing over heatsink fins is to not block the exit and based on those renders, there's almost nowhere for the air to exhaust - The finest fans and heatpipes in the world won't do any good if the air can't flow over them.

This is just a concept render, I know, but the lack of exhaust air clearance even at the concept stage is absolutely unforgivable for a company that prides themselves on airflow and cooling. They KNOW that if intake area is greater than exhaust area there will be flow restrictions. This graphical render job was clearly given to some intern who doesn't know what they're doing. This 2mm gap is where the air is supposed to vent out of the heatsink, apparently. See XFX THICC II as an abject failure of design despite being far less severe than this joke of a design.

this would be awesome, but the premium you will be paying... still better off just getting a rtx 3080 msrp at best buy... again this is all assuming they were in stock at msrp on best buy.

Fans are more likely to be all black if it ever happens. Not sure what the shroud would look like thou.
