GIGABYTE Reportedly Refuses to RMA Customer's GP-P750GM Power Supply

If you have been following the recent drama of GIGABYTE selling exploding power supplies, then you are aware of the happenings with GIGABYTE response, our PSU expert's response, and of course the massive backlash from customers. Today, according to a Reddit user u/Tinefol, GIGABYTE has refused to RMA the power supply that is eligible for the RMA program. The user is an owner of the GP-P750GM unit, which is part of the exploding units. He proceeded to open a ticket where he included the wordings from the company's press release, to which he got a response that "This press release is applicable only to the newer batches".

However, that is not the case. The press release states that GIGABYTE will offer RMA service on various models with the supported serial numbers. In the case of GP-P750GM PSUs, the RMA service is available for units with serial numbers ranging from SN20243G001301 to SN20453G025430. The customer that requested RMA has serial number SN20243G001306, which is eligible for return and exchange. The ticket response of "This press release is applicable only to the newer batches" holds no value as the press release does not refer to production time, but rather serial numbers of PSUs.

I think Gigabyte should start looking for a buyer for it's PSU division, because it is dead.

I was always considering Gigabyte's products when looking for a PSU. After all these, never again, especially after Gigabyte's response and now this case, that is probably one of the many we will never hear about.

Division? It's a small department. Easy to just close and move the staff to other departments.

I've actually never considered Gigabyte's power suppliers, never had any good thoughts about these re-branded products.

Yep, I won't be buying Gigabyte products anymore; they can go pound salt.

Oh jese, not only do these PSUs explode but they cause physical harm to the user as well in the form of metal splinters and bleeding. Good going there, Gigabyte; going for our blood I see.

Good thing the only Gigabyte products I have are my GTX 1070 and my RX 460, both of which were bought used. The GTX 1070 has been working perfectly for three years, and the RX 460, while quirky at times, also works fine.

Guess I can put them on my "do not buy" list. MSI got dangerously close to being put on there, but they handled my motherboard RMA flawlessly. ASUS and EVGA haven't let me down so far.

I've actually never considered Gigabyte's power suppliers, never had any good thoughts about these re-branded products.
Re-branded units can be fine, depending on what was re-branded. I'd say basically 90% of PSUs you see on the market are actually re-brands, as there's not a lot of actual manufacturers. Seasonic, FSP, Flextronics, Superflower, CWT (Channel Well), Delta, and Great Wall are the OEMs I know of and covers a large chunk of the units sold under other big brand names. I think Silverstone makes their own PSUs too, but they're not an OEM for other brands AFAIK.

I smell one for NewEgg as well. Talk about knowing that they're selling defective products.

I wonder what Newegg's reasoning behind forcing this shit down people's throats that just wanted an opportunity to purchase a hard to come by GPU? The reviews people left about the these PSUs from Gigabyte were awful. Many DOA, many failing after a few hours to a few days....then with reviews making mention of how awful they can be when they fail, yet the PSUs were still pushed out.

My guess is Newegg had a shit ton of stock and Gigabyte wouldn't allow them to be returned, so Newegg just resorted to a shady tactic and bundled them with GPUs for their shuffles.

I think anyone that had to purchase one of these PSUs from Newegg, regardless if they were part of a bundle or not, Newegg should be allowing a return of the PSU for a full refund and paying the cost of shipping. Let Newegg take it in the shorts.

I have quite a few gigabyte products, never again though. This is the straw that broke the camels back. I was already very lose to writing them off after having a horrible experience trying to get support with a Aorus 6800xt. Luckily I was able to solve the problem with the card myself but I still have an unanswered RMA ticket dating back to Jan 15th 2021.
