According to the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification's (OFLC), SoF:Payback is too violent and gory for the country. Like the Manhunt 2 controversy, the OFLC refused to rate SoF:Payback, making it illegal to sell the game anywhere inside the country to anyone. The main reasons that the OFLC deemed SoF:Payback to be too much for Australia:
  • The game contains too much "high impact violence", which exceeds even Australia's MA15+ rating.
  • The game contains "substantial blood spray", blood splatters on the ground and wall, and the ability for gamers to target specific body parts

Maybe they should standardize the age ratings around the world, or else just add a higher rating for Aus, I mean, come on, having MA15+ is just asking for trouble, because they either ban everything rated over 17/18 in oher countries, or else allow 15 year olds to buy porn, and ultra-violent games and films.
 
all i have to say is unluky to Australians, unless they download it they are going to miss out

I think when your country bans guns they tend to ban games more. Is that just me that thinks that?

Kind of true in some cases, Aus, UK, Germany, AFAIK, they've all got tight gun laws (not completely illegal to own and carry a loaded weapon, but the restrictions are huge), and I've seen a lot of games getting banned recently in the UK and Germany, so there amy be correlation there.

Unlike with Manhunt 2, I disagree with this one... I'm pretty sure it wont be banned in the UK, and it's not like "bans" have ever stopped me before...
 
so this just means that you will have to download it for free then. or, how about sell a 50 dollar SoF poster which happens to come with a free game haha

What is the world coming to when people can't decide for themselves what to buy..? If I was Australian I'd be pissed as hell right now.

just like the UK is probably pissed cause of man hunt 2...even AFTER they made it mature rate friendly!!

its funny...

RIAA is taking Americas right to download P2P and what not...(even though pirating is pretty beat especially if you like the band a lot or like a movie or something SUPPORT YOUR ARTIST!)...and people are all HAHA about that...but at least we have the freedom to choose if we want to shoot someones arms or legs off..in a video game

I totally agree with you here my friend. And thank god I don't live there, but as most of you know there is no such thing as true freedom no matter where u go.

With governments there is always some form of control.

This should also cause the piracy rate of that game in Aus to skyrocket. Whenever you ban something people just want it more.

Does this mean that Fallout 3 will be banned also since it will be able to target any particular body part? That would be even crazier for Australia to do
 
whoa, after watching that video... wtf? I would ban that for the sake of intelligence. if you really want it, go ahead, but know that it will fill your mind with the worst kinds of crap. on the other hand, I'm probably going to pick it up when I can

you'd ban it!? that game is awesome i know its not completely realistic but i will glee with joy when i snipe someone and there head goes pop...BRING ON THE GORE!
