What's your latest tech purchase?

Finally getting into mobile gaming with a Nintendo Switch. My main reason for purchase was family game night. My kid is a teenager and I gotta do what I gotta do to spend some quality time with her. So we went and bought the console, two wireless game pads, MarioKart 8, SuperMario+Bowser, Animal Crossing, Doom Slayers collection and Crash Bandicoot collections. We've only got to play Mario Kart so far, but Im impressed with how well it holds up on my 75" TV. Better late than never, right?

A NIB Seasonic Prime 850 Titanium for $130 off Reddit's Hardwareswap yesterday. The seller also sent me a copy of the original sales receipt. It was purchased off Amazon less than 4 months ago.

Your post reminds me of when I played Battle City on the NES with my dad when I was around 6. Good old times! :ohwell:

2x 8TB U.2 drives for fast storage: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WGNKJTH?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
2x 4tb cache SSDs for the HDD array (not pictured): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YFGTXHT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
5x 20TB HGST DC drives for the main storage array: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BGFT5WBP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
64gb of ram for the nas: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09JSQB2MH?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
QNAP TS-h973ax: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QRYS9B9?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Other than the cache SSDs everything is enterprise.

The U.2 drives (RAID0) will hold my temp shares for things im working on or with.
The SSDs (RAID1) will just be cache drives for the HDD Array
The HDD drives (RAID10 w/ hot spare) will hold the majority of the data after its done being edited.

Everything will be backedup to backblaze B2.

Decided it was time to improve my local storage situation now that most of my equipment is co-located in a DC.

Bought a desk panel thingy for:
1. Added 'space' to hang my cans and stuff
2. Prevent stuff from dropping off the edge of my desk ...

Also got a full metal 3 tier cabinet to store my external HDDs, and other stuff... it's a little 'smudged' as I'd just taken it out of the box and I guess my hands aren't as clean as I'd thought.

Bought a new foot pump 160PSI/10BAR (mainly using it for bicycle tires)

High quality stuff, and the sound is amazing for the price (flamingo switches). Thock!

Surely a trolley jack is tech, after buying one I remembered bottle jack's are shit so now own the two , arse.

Welp. Mom's PC popped today on her birthday, so I hopped into a local PC shop and picked up the first combo that didn't make me ill. No complex calculus.
She was supposed to get my then-current computer later, but that schedule's been pushed up.

I already had the case, cooler, PSU, RAM, and SSDs waiting around for a while now, so it just needed a motherboard and CPU. Those ended up being a 12700K and a Z690 Force. Sadly, the AMD motherboard offerings available were either extremely sketchy and low end, or overpriced with nothing in between.

Here it is

I enjoyed the build process mostly, except for the strangely resistive PCI-E slot.

Guess the next stop is Panther Lake/Zen 7, or whatever.

2 new Schwalbe Delta Cruiser Plus anti-puncture tires for my E-Bike

New case, replacing the ol evolv x. It was either go with custom panels or new case, going with a new case was 100-150$ cheaper so.. antec p1!

Budget AMD build ftw I do one of these every 3 to 4 years at least since Ryzen has been a thing keeps me up to date on how AMD gpu drivers are doing since my primary systems over the last decade have really only used Nvidia gpu's.

Basically the cheapest parts I find interesting 850w psu is probably overkill but I also don't trust RDNA2 transient spikes lol.

here was the last one

I'm in the same boat with my Evolv X really like it but airflow sucks even with Silent wing 3 high speed fans in every slot.

In my opinion, AMD drivers were crap with the 5700 XT, but have come a long way since then. They're rock stable, also, the UI looks and feels better than Nvidia, not to mention greater customizability with OC/UV.

Let us know how the build goes. :)

This will be my 3rd Zen4 build and 3rd Rdna 2 build but first where I picked all the parts and will get some decent hands on with. The other 2 where less hands on.

My view of Amd drivers has been pretty positive but hardware is my real passion and just putting systems together.

Same here. While other people play on their PCs, I play with mine. :D

I'm interested too. That B650 Aorus board was one of the ones available in the shop I went to the other day. I skipped over it because I wasn't willing to spend the $300CAD the store had it at. Curious what I missed out on.

It was 40 usd off $189 when ordered at it's $229 msrp it isn't very appealing over other options in the price range. I'm more familiar with Asus and Gigabyte bios when it comes to amd only real reason for the choice.

Oh yeah it 100% couldnt keep up any more, had to run with the front panel off since getting the 4090. Didn't have real issues with the previous hw setup (5900x/3080) with 3NFa14 fans at the front, but i suspect i was right at or just above the absolute limit of what it could handle without a modded front panel

Not sure this is a tech purchase as I intentionally tried to avoid the use of batteries for a tire pressure gauge

Just took my front plate off. Modded the rear top a bit and airflow is good enough to cool a TEC'd 11900k @5.3 and a 3090 FE. I hear ya though, if this case wasn't so nice, Id be relocating hardware too.IMG_0799.JPG

New mouse for my gaming rig. Corsair Sabre. This thing is light and has lower click latency than my G502 Hero.
