Hi guys, I was asking myself if it is possible, to take the bios of an Inno3D Frostbite Ultra and flash it on a non-ultra which has a power cap of 450W even though it is reference design and also watercooled.
The ultra Version has no power cap and also a 24+4 powerphase design. The normal design of the reference card are save enough the increase powertarget to 500-550W

Could anyone could tell me, if the BIOS flash may cause failure, or maybe even someone here that tried removing the power cap of the Frostbite standard version via bios flash?

These are the new cards released after the frostbite standard:

Or could i flash this BIOS here? same Device and Subsystem ID:

Anyone here to share a original 4090 ichill frostbite ultra Bios?

What performance increase will you get for the extra 50-100W?
thank you, but this is not the question. I am not asking for your opinion on how much sense it makes to increase pt. I always find it funny people in hw and tuning forums jumping up questioning oc and powertarget tuning

based on some reviews and testings, something between 5 and 8% for of course a much higher powerdraw.

How much is it worth for you to have fluidity in games, have hitching minimised. We all will do anything to eek out more performance, and 5-8 percent is a pretty tangible gain.

Good luck please keep us posted.

Waiting for the 4x8to12vhpwr cable to arrive. I see its quiet hard to get them here.

Then, actually I'd like to wait for an original ultra bios to reduce any risks of a brick with KFA2 bios

Yes that's actually my little hope. Reducing the stuttering of the performance when hitting the power limit. Also this card is watercooled, so why no taking advantage of it. Any overclocking ever doesn't really make sense in terms of efficiency, but as many of us here, I love squeezing out the rest of the possiblties out of anything I have :)

Installed 4x8pin to 12VHPWR adapter and wanted to add that I successfully flashed the kf2 Bios to my non-ultra. The capped 450w powerlimit is removed. I can set +13% now on MSI afterburner. I see a much much more stable frequency not jumping between 2850 and 2950mhz but staying stable at 2915mhz on my +150mhz overclock. Microstuttering seem to have been reduced by a huge amount.

Hopefully someone to share a ultra bios though because I would like to test this too :)

Brilliant news good for you buddy.... Cant beat the feeling of knowing you've managed to get a better bios for your card. Your heart is in your mouth the whole time flashing, then the screen appears and you know its been successful... No brick... lol

I once bricked 2 top of the range AMD cards and the cards booted ONCE after the flash. Then they were dead on reboot. So a large group of us managed to get stella performance for one night only until Wiz came and saved the day, when we all realized the next morning our pc's and two of the most expensive cards were dead. We re-flashed and were sorted. I will never forget the feeling of having £1000 gone and literally thinking there was no way back. That was a difficult night... Definitely a learning experience...

I'll keep an eye on my 4090's clocks. See if I get similar to you as mines on water as well.
