RTX 5080 worth it over 5070 TI for 4k?

Both should do fine unless you play with everything maxed out. I played fine at 4K60 with a RX 6700 XT. :D

They been screwing people since GF900, if not sooner.

ATI has been screwing people over since R100 and Quake 3. See how that cuts both ways.

I don't hold any particular animosity. I am merely skeptical.

Well given the numerous posts and grandiose claims I've reached the "put up or shut up" stage myself :D

Though I do find it hella funny he's probably talking to some scammer given the email "proof" lol. Thought it was just late night drunkposting.

I think that's where everyone is, no? Like everyone automatically assumes he's trolling, and that's a pretty reasonable, especially considering how ragebaity his previous posts before he finally starting giving us some actual evidence (if you believe it or not, I personally am still skeptical)

He's being cagey of course, so I'm not taking his evidence super seriously, but we'll see if he's being truthful if there's a fix really coming 'in a week'

Again, I do not hold any animosity towards him lol.

Probably wasn't a good idea to post those emails raw anyway.

I don't believe there's anything wrong with how I'm treating them, as I don't see anything wrong with being extremely skeptical. I'm not gonna suddenly take the word of a anonymous forum poster who's trying to claim something. Thankfully, he's provided a bit more evidence since I posted that :D
And it wasn't you I was referring to :)

I've been doing the same with a RX 6950 XT. All these benchmarks are set on Ultra. Lower some stuff to High. I only had to lower a few setting to High for Cyberpunk. Rest of the games I leave on highest settings.

Technically 5080 has worse perf/dollar so I guess not.

When you get into higher end, you get less for the money. It's an exponential curve. If you have the money, you don't care. Does Porsche provide double performance of BMW? No, but it's worth it to those that can afford it. Does 5090 have double the performance of 5080?

For those looking, I'm seeing tons of stock today at MC. Everything from the current gens.

He asked if it's worth it, so he does care. Even people who choose a Prosche over BMW care because otherwise they'd pick something even more expensive.

According to the meeting I just had I don't think it was intentional. I think when they compiled the code it compiled wrong and turned off sm_120 architecture leaving sm 89 active. That's why the cards act like 40 series. With the coming patch it will unlock all 50 series giving 35% increase in speeds.
Where's this patch?

I have a two builds, one with a 5070 ti, 5700x3d, 32gb ddr4 and the other build has a 4090, 7800x3d and 32gb of ddr5 ram. The 5070ti build holds it own at 4k max settings with ray tracing enabled (or path tracing if available). Obviously some games I have to turn on DLSS to keep at, or above, 60fps, and only a couple need frame generation enabled as well to hit that mark (Cyberpunk, Alan Wake, Indiana Jones). Honestly the numbers I get with the 5070ti are very similar to what I get with my 4090 build, not. Overall I am really impressed with card for it's 4k performance and totally recommend it for 4k gaming, no need to get a 5080 as the jump in performance does not come close to meeting the jump in price!!

I have a 5070ti. I used the msi afterburner software to increase the clock speed to 350 and memory to 1500. I get the performance of a 5080 for the price of a 5070ti. That is worth it to me.

I would go with 5080 should be good for while with that but i would get OC variant to try and get the most out of it but i wouldnt pay more then 1400

Are there none for MSRP anymore? Or has that ship sailed? Maybe the PNY one.

What's wrong with getting a 5070ti and overclocking it to get the same fps you would with a 5080?

5080 is good but with a little bit of oc'ing you can get the 5070ti to match it at base clocks.

If I had the money, I would get a 5090 and be done with it. But no stock....the rent is to damn high!

Heat, and efficiency, but I think we all cant deny that the 5070Ti without OC is still most definitely a better option than a 5080 purely because of its price to performance. And the 5070Ti is still... good (but only really because of what its being compared too)

the 5070 offers, fine performance, I guess, in that regard too, but its not a generational improvement we'd like to see. If at all.
