Borderlands 4 PC Minimum Specs Emerge As Collector's Edition Without Game Key Dampens Spirits

Gearbox and 2K today opened Borderlands 4 pre-orders, with the rather unexpected $69.99 base game price resulting in a simultaneous sigh of relief following the gaming industry's recent move towards $80 AAA games. Following the pre-order launch, Borderlands 4's Steam page revealed the game's minimum system requirements as a bit of a mixed bag. According to the Steam page, the new looter shooter will only run on an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070, but this seems to largely be related to VRAM, since the minimum requirements also mentions that 8 GB is the minimum VRAM amount. An SSD and an eight-core CPU—listed as the AMD Ryzen 2700X or Intel Core i7-9700—will also be mandatory for Borderlands 4. Even the recommended specifications for Borderlands 4 are rather moderate, with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 and Radeon RX 6800 XT making the cut.

In addition to the reasonable PC specs, news also broke about an ECHO-4 Collector's Edition, a curious edition to the line-up of special edition bundles for Borderlands 4 that seems to be exclusive to GameStop for now. The Echo-4 Collector's Edition bundle is a host of physical Borderlands 4 memorabilia, including a cloth map of Kairos, an eight-inch Echo-4 figure with LED lights, a Vault symbol necklace, a card with five SHiFT codes for Borderlands 4 golden keys, and four double-sided lithography art prints—all for $149.99. The one glaring omission from the Echo-4 bundle is an actual game key for Borderlands 4. That is clearly labelled as "sold separately" on the GameStop page.

What in the actual.... %!&*!#$

From the folks that brought us Evolve.

they didnt mention what resolution and fps...
im guessing minimum is 1080p low 30fps
and recommended is 1080p high 60fps..

150$ Collectors Edition with no game... gaslighting us into preordering at 70$ because 80$ will be the new normal? I will just stop before I say something I regret.

Great, my 2060 Super is below minimum, another reason NOT to buy this. And no game code for the physical collector stuff, lol how good they reckon this game going to be?

A Collector's Edition without a game key... what in the flying fuck ?!?!?

Oh and Randy, i will find a way to spend that $80 elsewhere you fucking clownshoe.

And just like that, six core cpu got obsolete.....

But now i wunder. Is minimum with or without ht/smt, cause of i remember correct i7 9700 dosent have ht. So only 8 threads.

You mean this wont work on a GTX 1080 card with 8GB of VRAM?

Exactly. This is the most callous thing ever! An overpriced collector pack with not even the game in it. I mean, WTF?!? GREEEDY B-TERDS!

I mean you got a Randy Pitchford product here. What do you expect?

Most important question, do those specs demand upscaling to be playable.

This is UE5 afterall.

$110 for the base game? yikes! and I just got Borderlands 3 for $4.50.......yeah right ok! sure! might get it in a few yrs when its also $4.....least both my PC's can run it with out issues!

Ridiculous. Collector's editiot lacking the most important thing.

Expect performance similar to STALKER 2. You'll need to have at least RX 7900XT or RTX 5070 to play at 1440p @ min. 60 fps @ native & maxed out settings.
UE5 is one royal piece of unoptimized shit. Not only we pay more and more for hardware every year, we also pay more for more unoptimized stuff.

This either ain't the "real" Collector's Edition or GearBox just bumped the biggest pile of shit on all their fans outside of the US... :banghead:

Just like that, this game is 100% skip material. Things only go obsolete if you keep chasing the latest corporate clusterfucks.

This is clearly one of them at this point.

Everytime I try and get into the BL games, both 1 and 2, it's just a miserable experience. There is barely any actual gameplay there, it's just pure skinnerbox mechanics.

The art style is great and while the humor is juvenile its still there so I appreciate those portions, I just wish there was more to the game than basically being an FPS diablo clone.

8 core minimum lol. Sure. a 2700X will totally run this better than a 5600X3D riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight?

We will definetly, but definetly, need a CPU, not only a GPU review for this game.

I have a feeling this is not going to sell well. Most users game on a 6 core or less CPU, in fact according to all the data out there, 6 cores account for half of the processors, with a good 20% being 4 core processors.

Plus its an overexpensive turd!

I just noticed that another site (guru3D) has essentially the same lead-in, saying:

"Borderlands 4 is now available for pre-order on PC, with the base game priced at $69.99 USD. This pricing is somewhat lower than recent AAA game releases, which have been trending closer to $80 or more."

I have never seen an 80$ AAA game. Out of curiosity I loaded up Steam, checked the store and saw a grand total of three games priced at 80$ (all Matrix-published niche grognard war games). Where are these numbers coming from?

im guessing minimum is 1080p low 30fps*
and recommended is 1080p high 60fps..**
* using upscaling on the performance preset
** using frame generation and upscaling on the quality preset

UE5 :wtf:

Nintendo and Microsoft

I'll wait until it's free on the EGS. I bought Borderlands 3 twice, after all. But this game? It's just not passing a good vibe right now.
