NVIDIA today released the latest version of GeForce graphics drivers. Version 576.88 WHQL adds official support for GeForce RTX 5050. This support covers both the desktop and laptop variants of the RTX 5050. The drivers also add optimization for "Mecha BREAK," "Diablo IV (DLSS 4 update)," and "Monster Hunter Wilds (DLSS 4 update)." The release fixes a handful of bugs. One such bug that's been fixed sees the GPU memory run at slightly lower speeds with NVIDIA Smooth Motion enabled in games. Another bug causes some notebook machines to freeze when App Overlay is used with DLSS Frame Generation enabled in Cyberpunk 2077. A black screen observed when installing GeForce drivers on some machines with AMD Ryzen processors has been fixed. Another black screen noticed when switching between 480 Hz and 360 Hz refresh rates on Sony SDM-27Q10S display has been fixed.

Placing bets on these drivers being malware adjacent like the last few?

Also, still breaking RT in WoW? lol..

malware adjacent
Care to elaborate? All I can find on the subject is some false positives that happened because Defender is being dumb as a box of rocks in it's heuristics (running these on a company that large that is known to write kernel mode drivers really shouldn't happen).

One thing I wish Nvidia would do, change their numbering to match AMD's driver release nomenclature. I'm getting lost in these stupid numbers and I have to look up release dates.

This isn't fixed. At least they acknowledged the issue with the previous driver, hopefully, continue to investigate.

This is at best a workaround, but I have found disabling the P2 state with nvidiaProfileInspector fixes this.

People still having random black screen black outs on some configurations (after install/reboot):
Downgraded to 565.90 (Oct 1, 2024) when the black screen issues started months ago, and no black screen issues (knock on wood).

nVidia does not need to dedicate sufficient resources to fix this issue, it's been months and money is pouring in from all directions. Desktop gfx card minor issues is 9999999999th on their priority list.

Are you using DDU?

Having used Nvidia for years, the versioning makes sense to me, but having versioning that indicates the year, month, and date when the driver was finalized would not be terrible.

Can you explain the breakdown for me? I haven't used Nvidia in over 2 decades.

Thats funny why?

Nvidia being a $ Trillion company and RTX being one of their biggest selling points on their GPUs ?
Activision Blizzard being a $ Billion company and WoW one of their biggest cash flows?

Still it takes months to fix driver issues for Wow in recent years, stuttering, crashes, flickering shadows, green UI elements, freezes, etc.
They do get fixed, but it is obvious that neither party is willing to spend extra effort (aka: money) on it.

The state of the drivers is by choice, Nvidia could have stellar drivers, but is shitting the bed seemingly for a better bottom line and focusing solely on AI/ Datacentre.

A black screen crash is likely when using DDU in normal mode on 24H2. I observed this bug. 23H2 seems to not be affected.
I noticed this a while before I installed 24H2 on my daily driver.

The driver probably recognize Smooth Motion as a compute workload, they always lower memory by 500 mhz on gaming cards for compute workload

Another week another driver

They should release daily drivers, considering how buggy and crappy are for the RTX 50x0 generation.

By now I think people already knew all the problems are deep inside the architecture and all these weekly driver 'fixes' are just trial & error attempts to see which smokescreen workaround works the bests.

These drivers have actually been working well on my RTX 5080.

The only bug I've encountered is using fast sync leads to black flickering on my 120hz 4k display, but really, fast sync is a wasteful powerhog anyways, so not super upset.

If this architecture is broken, I sure missed it. I feel it was just early driver teething issues, especially since installing the new drivers on ada led to many of the same symptoms.

This one works pretty darn good from what I can tell so far.

Nvidia GeForce Driver 576.88 with (DLSS 310.3.0) Transformer Model works fantastic on my MSI RTX 4080 Super 16G SUPRIM X on MSI MEG Optix MEG381CQR Plus 3840x1600 144Hz G-Sync Ultimate all buttury smooth @144fps ❤️

DLSS 310.3.0 is a free graphics upgrade for my RTX 4080 Super 16GB. Can't complain about free upgrade for my AD103.

Transformer Model destroys FSR4 Redstone.
