EA DICE is confirmed to be working on a new "Battlefield" game, and it is expected to be called "Battlefield 6," according to a teaser by Doom49 on X. Doom49 claims to have received a "Battlefield 6" hamper in the mail from EA. The game is hence confirmed to be in development, although nowhere near release, or even play-testing. It's being reported on Reddit that the game will bring back a single-player campaign, a key component found missing in "Battlefield 2042" that faced limited success in the market. There is no word on the general setting or artistic backdrop of BF6—whether it's based on a near-future conflict like in "2042," or past conflicts like in "Battlefield V" and "Battlefield 1," or whether the campaign goes back to what worked best—a contemporary conflict setting as seen with "Bad Company 2," BF3 and BF4.

Well, that's not really correct. BF Labs has been out for a while and tons of people played it. It wasn't hidden by EA and was announced officially. I think for all intents and purposes it is safe to assume that BF Labs represents BF6 and is BF6. Also hours upon hours of gameplay have been leaked by this point.
It is a contemporary setting with almost nothing particularly futuristic in it.

Don't bother. This is AI generated content, apparently with training data-cut off date before the every body knew that new Battlefield is in the works with single-player campaign and ongoing play testing. Shame to see this type of thing here.

What game engine do the modern Battlefield games use anyway?

I thought it was known that EA has been testing a new Battlefield for a while now.

I've personally playtested the alpha, and it has been open for playtesting for many months now, so thank you for the hot-off-the-press info TPU, lol

Battlefields have been on their in-house Frostbite engine since BFBC on PS360.

Amazing engine, I think it kinda peaked somewhere between BF4’s “levolution”, networked water and audio, and BF1’s gorgeous lighting. Handle 64 player games very smoothly with lots of vehicles and destruction. Not sure what new features they’ve added to it since.

Like others have said. This has been known for a while now. It's also convenient that the X screenshot is missing an actual date.

This entire article needs to just be deleted. It's misinformation at best.

OMFG just give us Bad Company 3 already jezuz
Agreed.
For some reason the execs at EA don't understand how to make a successful Battlefield game, I haven't been interested in any of their FPS titles since Battlefield 4.
Amazing engine
The Frostbite engine is impressive, but it seems like everyone left who knew how to make an enjoyable game with it after BF1.

The execs at EA are all corporate big box types. None of them could define what makes a good Battlefield game

Yeah, DICE is in the same boat as Bioware and Bungie where all the talent that made the studio is long gone, and the Ship of Theseus curse has set in.

Latest battlefield which lived up to its name was battlefield 4, 12 years ago. Since then it's been going downwards. 2042 was a huge fail. They really need to change the people in charge of the series if they want to turn this over, otherwise it's going to be another major flop.
