EA DICE is confirmed to be working on a new "Battlefield" game, and it is expected to be called "Battlefield 6," according to a teaser by Doom49 on X. Well, that's not really correct. BF Labs has been out for a while and tons of people played it. It wasn't hidden by EA and was announced officially. I think for all intents and purposes it is safe to assume that BF Labs represents BF6 and is BF6. Also hours upon hours of gameplay have been leaked by this point.
It is a contemporary setting with almost nothing particularly futuristic in it.

Battlefields have been on their in-house Frostbite engine since BFBC on PS360.

Amazing engine, I think it kinda peaked somewhere between BF4’s “levolution”, networked water and audio, and BF1’s gorgeous lighting. Handle 64 player games very smoothly with lots of vehicles and destruction. Not sure what new features they’ve added to it since.

Latest battlefield which lived up to its name was battlefield 4, 12 years ago. Since then it's been going downwards. 2042 was a huge fail. They really need to change the people in charge of the series if they want to turn this over, otherwise it's going to be another major flop.
