Specs:
Cooler Master Mystique 632s case > Asus P5WD2-E Premium > Intel D805 2.66 @ 3.50ghz > G-skill DDR2-800 2GBKit 4-4-4-10 > 2xGigabyte X1300_512MB > Maxtor sata2 320GB HDD > Lite-on 20x sata burner > Rosewill 500watt dual rail PSU.

Mods:
A little WM, added front blue led 120mm fan, added blue led 80mm fan on side panel, added hyper TX2 cpu cooler.

The lady I built this for wanted a simple crossfire box, that had low cost with ample power, each part was bought from ebay at really good prices, & overclocking was a breeze, with 30% AI running at 3.50ghz stable.

Nice and tidy. Good work.

I know you built it for someone else, but why do people insist on going CrossFire/SLi with 2 really crap cards? Is it just because it 'looks' good having 2 cards installed? For the price of those 2 awful X1300 512mb (lol, as if those cards can use 512mb) she could have had 1 better card!

Some people are strange lol ;)

PS: if you picked the cards for her, I apologise and hope I didnt sound like I was taking the p!ss :)

sure I agree, but both cards were $60, $75 motherboard, $40 cpu, $30 memory, $40 HDD, $24 PSU, $40 Case, $25 dvd-burner, $10 cpu cooler, $10 2 fans. that is a cheap system that works great for her needs,

But the crossFire is totally useless with those two cards, so she could have actually saved money by sticking with a single card :) Did you inform her that two of those cards would be nearly as crap as just one ;)

just because its crossfire/and or Sli doesnt always mean its better.
Like eating to 2 McDonald's hamburger patties instead of 1 rib eye steak.

and for $60 what single card should she have bought, she was not looking for a high-end gaming system, not all computers have to be, It scores 17000 points in 3dmark01 & 2000 points in 3dmark06, with a vista ultimate rating of 4.0, 4.0 is enough to run Vista Aero, that's really not bad for under $600. And I'm sure if she wants to play some higher-end game later on when she has more cash, she could invest in better cards, as the rest of the system hardware is fine. you guys are still ok by me, just a little picky sometimes.

Your missing the point m8. If she didnt want it for playing games, why not just use a single X1300? You obviously used the dual X1300's to make the system 'look' better, but by doing so, it made the system more expensive for VERy little performance gain (because its not a gaming rig, so you say)

Im not being picky, just stating the obvious. The dual X1300's were not needed ;)

If this was meant to be a gaming system, IM sure a single X1600 would have been a betetr choice (well tbh, anything would be better for gaming then a single/dual X1300 lol)

Your into PC gaming right? Surely you agree with what Im saying?

Sorry to burst your bubble here steelkane. I also paid $60 for my 7600GS and it beats your X1300's in CF, and that's with a Celery. No offense, I liek your machine and all but if shes not gaming it could have only used one X1300 or maybe even a 7300GT.

EDIT: Rated it a 6/10

I stated she wasn't looking for a high-end gaming system, at 1024x768 it plays UT3, COD4 fine, but if she want to play crysis forget it, and it will still play most of the older game just fine, the x1300 cards are not that bad, but I guess your going off benchmark numbers and never played on them before.

totally agree mate!
i don't know why they're giving you such a hard time, those were a steal at $60 for the pair! the best you could have done with $60 on newegg is a 6600gt or a 2400xt, those 1300's will put both to shame.
all in all, it looks great, and i bet it runs great for her needs.

No I didn't take any offense to any comments , & thanks Random Murderer, I know everyone has a difference in opinion, I've built systems with the best video cards & I know the difference, I've only been here on TPU for a short time, If I put all the systems I've built In the gallery it would be a very long list, I like TPU & that's why I started posting my builds, Now there all not going to be top of the line systems, and some might like them & some might not, but that's ok, I'm always looking for better way to build them. So thanks for all your comments , I do consider them all.

Im not trying to cause offense, but read what I said carefully and you will see what I mean.

Basically, 2x X1300's in CrossFire is a waste of time and effort (surely you realise this?) So as the women wanted to be able to do 'casual' gaming, surely a single X1300 would have been ok (but not great obviously), yet a single 7600GS (as stated by JrRacinFan) would have been a better choice?

If you have $60 for a video card, surely you would get the best one for the money?

1x half decent/good card is better then 2x crap cards!

Like I said, Im not trying to piss off steelkane, just stating the fact that a single card solution would have been the better option in this build.

PS: for example. At $60, this X1650 Pro (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131068) would smoke 2x X1300's

PPS: these specs speak for themselves: http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=349&card2=447

Like the rig's clean innards. Nothing special though. You get a 7/10 from me. Nice cable management.
