As the title suggests, the picture below shows ASUS R.O.G. Striker II Formula motherboard in detail. Looking almost identical to the original ASUS R.O.G. Striker Formula (nForce 680i), this mobo will be its successor utilizing the new NVIDIA nForce 780i chipset.

There are quite a few differences layout and Heatsink wise to the old Striker :wtf: Almost identical??

I wish they also make a ROG board with the AMD 790FX. Awesome board nonetheless.

Which is why they chose to name it Striker II (Striker with NF780i instead of NF680.)

I was just commenting on what malware had stated.

EDIT: woah, btarunr- where did your post/the rest of it go?

What does R.O.G stand for?

Republic of Gamers - it's a 'gaming' board so they like to put that rubbish on it.
If you look at he heatsink it says it on their too (NBridge).

Arrh fair play!

Am I right in guessing that the E2140 is a stop gap until the Q6600 drops in price or when Intel get their act together and release the Q9450 or whatever the 45nm equivalent is to be called?

Bang on the mark mate!:toast:

^^ - MUHAHAHAHA!

Don't know how accurate their information is, considering the stupid amount of different rumours relating to Intel's 45nm delay(s) but it seems 4-layer PCBs using the P35 chipset have issues with the new chips...

X-bit Labs' Anton Shilov said:
... issues with quad-core code-named Yorkfield processors occur on affordable mainboards that utilize 4-layer print-circuit boards (PCBs) and do not affect expensive platforms that are based on 6-layer PCBs...

... apparently current design of Intel Core 2 Quad microprocessors with 1333MHz bus made using 45nm technology results in excessive “PSB noise”, which prevents normal operation....

'ere y'go...

I'm hoping the £120 P5K Premium has a 6 layer pCB then! Just googling it now.

EDIT: Looks like it either has an 8 or 10 layer PCB.

I don't think the Q6600 will ever have a price-cut after the release of YF. They'll stay on just like leftover Conroe 1066 processors. The retailers stocking them would sell it for the same or at the most, $10 lesser. Even they can't afford to sell it at a price close to that which they bought them from the wholesalers/Intel and cannibalise their profit margin. It's going to be a serious wait before its successor from the YF takes over....and that would be only after Intel realises its Q6600 stocks are selling out / finishing its target sale quantitatively.

I just bought a G0 Q6600 to hold me over until I can afford a QX of some flavor. Got it at CompUSA for $240 NIB, because they're going out of business. It was the best deal in the store.

L.B.

Your Q6600 should run just fine till Q2 2009. But that's an out-of-business sale. That rate doesn't apply everywhere :(

The p5k-prem is a decent board, theonetruewill.I got mine for a Q9450,this board should have no probs with that chip, and it does do over 500fsb(the board).I got this 6750 to see me through till then.

Awww... I want a G0 stepping Q6600 but I know I should wait.

*throws a shoe!*
