New York Begins Investigation of Intel

Proud of your taxes too?

atleast the taxes are put to good use... westcheser(where i live) is the highest tax paying county in the us i think..

It's good to see at least one niche market (New York) has been paying attention to things, and had the nads to bring it into the open.

Even if Intel is found guilty of it, it won't help AMD much at all later on, unless the ruling decrees that Intel fork over x amount to AMD to make up for lost potential revenues - that would be a blessing for them. Only time will tell, though.

In the meantime, I hope this case serves as warning to all the other corporations out there - Intel may not have made it into the list of the 100 biggest corporations in 07, but they're a name that everyone knows. If both Intel and MS gets slapped for this type of competition within 10 years, we should see the market as a whole start to straighten out a bit . . .

I'd like to say to all the people flaming AMD, AMD did NOT file this suit, The State of New York did, for violation of antitrust laws and unfair business practices (which has been OBVIOUS). I myself have seen many of the situations prior cited in this thread. Seriously, how many games do you seen with an opening AD for AMD at the game's start? You don't, you see "Intel Core 2 Extreme". What do you see at the end in the credits? Intel before AMD, and for some reason, Intel having more recognition for their "support" in the game's development. I myself can say that I personally love AMD chips, but I also own Intel chips, like the notebook that I'm using right now, with and Intel Core 2 Duo. I can HONESTLY say, that my previous notebook with an AMD64 3800+ single core 2.4GHz, ran much faster than this one with a Core 2 T7200 2.0GHz, in almost every aspect. Although, Intel DOES have a superior, faster chip design, it doesn't justify them to bribe and threaten penalties to their distributors. Read into this matter more before you make your own accusations. By right AMD should be suing Intel, not NY.

all amd fanbois walk off the invisible bridge .. all fanbois as a matter of fact.

As much as I completely agree with that statement . . . it's not AMD's style. They, and ATI, have always been very willing to just roll with the punches - instead of throwing accusations or resorting to shady business practices. At least, IMO, a 3rd party was willing to stand up and say something isn't right here.

I do think, though, that if Intel weren't stacking the deck as they were, AMD would almost definitely be in a better financial position than they are now, as they would've seen more revenue coming through the door - which they probably would've put towards R&D.

Intel is the best. :)
