DFI's latest LANParty board is based on the Intel's X38 and ICH9R chipset, DFI's second take on the Intel X38 series product line (LANPARTY LT X38-T2R first took place). The freshman LANParty DK X38-T2R supports DDR2 memory up to 1066MHz and 1333MHz FSB for the latest Intel processors. LANParty DK X38-T2R also incorporates 4-phase digital PWM, 8-channel Realtek ALC885 high definition audio codec, dual PCI-E 2.0 x16 slots for ATI CrossFire graphics, CMOS Reloaded Technology, Genie BIOS, and EZ Clear CMOS accessible from the back I/O panel of the board. The board also uses 100% Japanese-made solid capacitors, which now-a-days is considered normal in the high-end market.

kinda wish this was available a month ago. Would have been a nice alternative to the Maximus Formula i just got. Oh well, such is the computer component life
 
That tall heatsink to the northbridge could seriously hamper large CPU heatsinks like the Zalman CNPS 9700, the Scythe, Thermalright Ultra 120, etc.

Actually if you compare the specs between this board and the Maximus Forumla, I mean every board specification. It is actually a little lower in quality and features. So don't feel bad about the Maximus Formula it is more superior and if you also noticed DFI is trying to copy some of the Maximus features, so what does that tell you in itself. Maximus Still Rocks.:nutkick:

Not sure about that. DFI realy put a lot of thought into this one.

The heatsink comes "un-installed". Giving you the choice as to wether or not to use it or one of your own choice.

Only thing I don't like is that the board only has a total of 3 fan connectors. There is also a Aux-power connector for additional power for Crossfire/Sli but it's in the 5-pin (sata format) not 4-pin molex, its also labled as 5v/12v so which is it?:wtf:

Here's a review, early but not many out there in english just yet.

a motherboard using SATA power input? Not many PSU's come with over 6 SATA power leaves with so many unused Molex connectors with current gen PSUs. If I have a RAID setup with two optical drives, and I'm forced to molex-SATA converters, it only ends up making the case messier.
 
Ok, first of all, this is a Lanparty DK board, not LT or UT, this is the bottom of the range, hence the basic feature set.
If you want to go top of the range, hang on until they launch their X48 board, it'll feature thermalright chipset cooling...
Excited yet?
It should also have a new external heatpipe again designed by thermalright.
Apart from that it won't differ vastly from the current LT X38-T2R board.
The motherboard is pretty much ready to go as soon as they work out a few kinks with the chipset cooling and the external part and of course the launch of the X48 chipset.

One thing, please point out the "5-pin SATA" power connector for me, as I must be blind. Besides, I've never seen a 5-pin SATA power connector, so it'll be interesting to see.
And all power connectors inside a PC carries both 5 and 12V with the real (hardwired) SATA connectors supporting 3.3V as well. What I can see is a four 4-pin floppy connector by each of the x16 slots if this is what you mean.

Download the Users manual from DFI website. It's not a "SATA" connector It's a standard 5-pin (fan type). It suprised me also.
